General

  • Is there a fall, slip or trip hazard, or a potential fall, slip or trip hazard.

  • Are exit doors clear and labelled?

  • Are aisles and walkways clear?

  • Do aisles and passages provide sufficient clearance?

  • Are any tools (including handheld power tools ) broken or damaged?

  • Are electrical cabinets easily accessible?

  • Has the fire extinguisher maintenance record tag been stamped by the contractor showing that it has been maintained within the previous 6 months?

  • Are fire extinguishers easily accessible?

  • Is all lighting working?

  • Are hazardous / dangerous goods labelled and stored correctly? i.e. bunded areas and containers labelled?

  • Are bunds dry and clean?

Environment

  • Is the floor free of spills?

  • Is waste being separated according to the contaminated production waste & recycled waste pictures?

  • Are the bins clearly labelled?

Personnel

  • Is all appropriate P.P.E. being worn correctly ?

  • Are all operators performing tasks in a safe manner?

  • Are hand held power tools being used and stored safely and correctly? Where applicable

Machinery. Check All Machinery in area....

  • Is guarding in place and secure?

  • Are all switches/buttons functioning correctly?

  • Are all switches/buttons clearly labelled?

  • Are the correct tools being used?

  • Are tops of machinery free from foreign objects?

  • Are Air hoses in good repair?

  • Are emergency stops working?

  • Are the fume fans working?

  • Welding area maintained in a safe, clean and tidy condition and equipped with safety screens.

  • Are lifting devices in good working order?

  • Are trolleys in good repair and easy to move?

  • Are parts washers clean and working?

  • Are there handheld power tools left on benches?

  • Is there swarf on any of the milling machines or lathes?

  • Are all the Electrical cabinets locked?

Hygiene

  • Are cleaning materials easily assessable?

  • Are cleaning /maintenance rota's being maintained?

  • Kitchen Area - clean and free of rubbish

  • Only clearly designated pallets used for storing equipment, no misuse of layer boards?

  • Hand washing area clean and tidy

  • Toilets/change rooms - area clean, fans and lighting working, no graffiti?
