Illuminated Diagram

  • 1. Check the security of illuminated diagrams / panel structure and fixings

  • 2. Check that the diagram / panel is adequately clean

  • 3. Check the legibility of illumined diagram / panel artwork and for signs of excessive wear

VDU / DISPLAYS

  • 29. Check monitor(s) and any associated keyboard(s) for cleanliness and it is free from damage

  • 34. Is the lever frame, levers and associated fittings correctly?

  • 35. Are the lever names and pull plates intact and is all wording legible?

  • 36. Are the levers free from signs of fatigue or fracture?

  • 37. Are the catch handles, catch handle pins and catch rod fittings secure and free from wear?

  • 38. Check the correct installation and security of all split pins associated with lever frame components / fittings

  • 39. Are the catch blocks and quadrants free from excessive wear and chamfering?

  • 40. Are the level contact boxes securely fitted, all lids in place and secure?

  • 41. Are any wires associated with lever frame components / fittings correctly routed, secure, and free from damage and degradation?

  • 42. Is the general level of cleanliness adequate?

  • 43. Check the operation of lever(s) for smooth operation, checking that excessive force is not required to operate equipment associated with lever

  • 44. Carry out the function test on Welwyn rotary type release

  • 45. Carry out function test on (Paper and Glass type) emergency release

  • 46. Test operation of any audible alarms (e.g First Filament, level Crossing, Power Suppliers etc)

Additional Maintenance Issues

  • 53. Check rectification work arising from failures, defect reports or SIN actions have been completed

  • 54. Check that defects identified in this inspection are recorded with correct prioritisation rating within the defect management system. Take appropriate action as required

  • 55. Is the current maintenance periodicity appropriate for the condition of the equipment and the environment it operates within?

  • 56. Does the current renewal /refurbishment proposals align with maintenance arrangements to provide an acceptable level of risk to operational safety?

Additional Installation Issues

  • 57. Is the equipment and fittings installed in accordance with the relevant BR-SM series of drawings / Signal Installation Handbook requirements?
