Housekeeping

  • Is the work area and fuel area clean and orderly?

Floors and Isles

  • Are floors dry, free of debris and tripping hazards?

Stairways

  • Are stairs in good condition, with handrails, and adequately lighted?

Ladders

  • Are ladders in good physical condition?

Storage areas

  • Are materials, vehicles, equipment and supplies properly stored without blocking fire extinguishers or exits and are these areas free from leaks and spills?

Machines and equipment

  • Are machines and equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, hand tools, office equipment , vending machines, roll up doors, etc in safe operating condition?

Hand tools

  • Are tools and cords in good condition?

Welder/Torch

  • Are welding machines and cylinders in good condition?

  • Are gauges and and hoses in good repair?

  • Are cylinders secured in place?

Grinder Wheel

  • Are all safety guards in place?

  • Is work rest no more than 1/8" from wheel?

  • Is the tongue guard in place and no more than 1/4" from the top of the grinder wheel?

  • Is grinder wheel free from excessive wear or cracks and replaced as needed?

Lighting

  • Is lighting in all areas working?

  • Is the wiring for all lights in good condition?

Fire Extinguishers

  • Are the fire extinguishers easily accessible(not blocked by trash cans etc.)

  • Have fire extinguishers been checked this month?

First Aid

  • Are first aid kits checked monthly using the first aid monthly sheet and properly stocked?

Entrance/Exits

  • Are they kept dry or provided with nonskid mats?

  • Are emergency exits unlocked, marked, kept clear and easily accessible?

  • Are lighted exit signs and emergency lighting operable?

Training

  • Are all employees trained in proper lifting techniques and material handling?

  • Are only properly trained employees operating and repairing equipment?

  • Have all employees received training in ladder and battery safety, lockout/tagout and tire safety?

  • If a scissor lift is on the premises, have employees received safety training for lift?

Signs

  • Are safety instructions and waring signs posted where needed?

Entering/Exiting Vehicles

  • Do shop employees use the three point hold properly when getting on and off tractors, trailers, hostlers and forklifts?

Personal Protective Equipment

  • Are safety glasses/eye protection worn by shop employees when required?

  • Is hearing protection worn when operating or working around loud equipent?

  • Are gloves and faceshield worn when changing propane tanks?

  • Are seat belts worn while operating forkllifts or tractors?

  • Is loose clothing forbidden around moving parts?

Emergency Action Plan

  • Is the emergency action plan and map current, available and known by all?

Right to Know

  • Is "right to know" (haz com) basic info posted for all to see?

Fuel Area

  • Is fuel area dry and free of leaks and spills?

Eye Wash Station

  • Is eye wash station clean, tested, and flushed weekly and is inspection documented?

Lockout/Tagout

  • Are lockout/tagout procedures followed at all times?

Electrical

  • Is there 36" of clearance in front of the electrical panels?

Trucks/Trailers

  • Are Trucks/Trailers clan inside and out, free of dents, dings, leaks and are tires, catwalks, air hoses, etc. in good condition?

Hydraulic Forklift Ramp

  • Are the hydraulic cylinders secure, free of leaks and damage?

  • Are safety stands being used, secured, and operating properly?

  • Is the battery in the tray and secured and operating properly?

  • Is the battery tray top secure and are battery wires operating well?

  • Are the wire ends secure and in good operating condition?

  • Is the control handle in good operating condition?

  • Check all wiring for fraying and loose ends.

  • Are wheel locks and safety stands secured and operating properly?

  • Are safety stands and wheel locks being used?

  • Are all anchor bolts secure and tight to the floor and frame of the lift?

  • Is the rack clean and free from grease and oily substances?
