PPE Program & Training Compliance

1.0 Training Program (Safety / Training Department)

  • Has the site communicated the proper use of PPE to all affected employees?

  • How often does the site communicate the PPE requirements?

  • How does the site communicate the requirements

  • Does the training identify that defective equipment may not be used?

  • Does the site have a training program that addresses the following items: <br>When PPE is necessary;<br>What PPE is necessary;<br>How to properly fit, adjust, and wear PPE;<br>The limitations of the PPE; and,<br>The proper care, maintenance, useful life and disposal of the PPE.

2.0 Documentation and Signalistion

  • Does the site ensure employees have adequate PPE for the job or taks they are performing?

  • Can employees in the area properly demonstrate an understanding of how to properly use the PPE for their tasks?

  • Do employees know how to properly inspect PPE and what to inspect?

  • Are employees fully aware of the proper PPE requirements for the task they are performing?

  • Are supervisors fully aware of the proper PPE requirements for the task they are performing?

4.0 PPE Program / Maintenance Program (General / Maintenance)

  • Has the site completed an assessment of hazards to determine whether the PPE would be necessary?

  • Does the site have a fitting process for PPE to ensure employees have access to different types of PPE that would provide the best fit?

  • Does the program identify that defective equipment may not be used?

  • Is specialty PPE provided to employees at no extra cost?

  • Does the site have a policy in place to limit the use of contact lenses worn on plant site when contact lenses present a hazard to the employee?

  • Are safety glasses required to comply with the Australian Standards and the sites procedure?
