PRE START INSPECTION

  • Pre start checks will be carried out prior to the ADT being operated. the checks will be recorded in the daily inspection book and any defects recorded and reported. Has the defect book been completed?

STABILITY OF ADT

  • Are tyres inflated tot he correct pressure

  • Are the Tyres in an acceptable condition and have sufficient tread to provide traction, assist steering and ensure effective braking.

  • Are the control measured adopted to ensure that the ADT is not over-loaded being adhered to and are these effective<br>

HAUL ROADS

  • Are the haul roads free from pot-holes, spillage, evenly graded and well maintained<br>

  • Is the operator of the ADT matching the travel speed to the ground conditions at the time of the inspection<br>

  • Have the haul roads with inclines been assessed for the requirement for emergency run-off lanes<br>

  • Are the speed limits that have been adopted appropriate for the varying condition of the haul road gradients, slopes and cross-falls<br>

  • Are the speed limits being adhered to <br>

  • Where there are tight bends and declines on haul roads are speed limits regularly assessed taking into account the hazards created by the change in direction that these create<br>

  • Are the road bunds appropriate and compliant with regulations<br>

  • Does a responsible person check the suitability of the entire route taken by ADT each day prior to work starting<br>

LOADING

  • Is the area that the ADT is to be loaded at level, stable, compact and free from hazards<br>

  • Has the ADT been positioned correctly for loading ensuring that loader bucket does not go over the cab<br>

  • Is the ADT being loaded evenly with the centre of gravity kept as low as possible<br>

DISCHARGING

  • Has the area demarcated for tipping been assessed for cross-fall<br>

  • Is the area that the ADT is to discharge at level, stable, compact and free from over-head hazards<br>

  • Has the operator applied the parking brake and selected neutral prior to commencing to tip the load<br>

  • Has the ADT been positioned straight and in-line prior to tipping with all axles & wheels level<br>

  • Has the ADT body been fully lowered and clear of material prior to moving away from the discharge point<br>

COMPETENCY

  • Do all driver hold a current "Licence" to drive an ADT<br>

  • Where the ADT is being used to haul liquids (Bowsers) are all drivers assessed for competency <br>

  • Are there occasional supervisor "ride alongs" to ensure drivers suitability and competency for the task<br>

  • Are all agency drivers assessed by a competent person as per 6.1 - 6.2 - 6.3<br>
