Aerial Lifts (MIOSHA)

  • The manual for the operation of the lift prepared by the manufacturer is readily accessible for the operator's reference. If no manual can be sourced, employer has, supplied a replacement operator manual (i.e.: by using a manual for a similar device and/or creating a new manual that meets the legislative requirement).

  • The rated capacity of the lift is legibly marked on hoist and support structure (beams) and are legible from the ground/floor.

  • Clearance from obstructions are a minimum of 3 inches overhead, and 2 inches laterally.

  • Inspections of lifts (either "frequent"j or "periodic" as defined by the regulations) are conducted and documented.

  • Trolley stops are provided and are at a minimum as high as the radius of the wheel.

  • Proper clearances are maintained between lifts and electrical equipment.

  • Operator training is provided at a minimum of every 3 years; testing both knowledge and ability is required.
