- Gift Card Fraud - Upon swiping or entering an American Apparel gift card an "Admin Hold" message appears on the screen, do not accept the gift card. This message is an automated response that indicates the Asset Protection Department has placed the funds on a gift card on hold, due to it's association to fraud. Politely explain to the customer that the funds can only be released by Asset Protection. Provide the gift card holder with telephone number (213) 488-0226 extension 8502 or 8503 to call.
