PPE, Donning Prior To Use

  • On activation of the crash alarm, individual is observed making their way to duty ppe holding area as safely as possible.

  • Individual is observed donning full firefighting kit inclusive of fire boots, drip pants, smoke hood, fire tunic, helmet and gloves.

  • Is individuals smoke hood being worn in the correct manner, inside the tunic and over the head with no impairment to visability or restriction in movement.

  • Is the individuals helmet being worn in the correct manner and not being carried by hand to the fire appliance or to the reporting area by hand.

  • Is individuals fire kit fastened correctly in all areas with collar in a raised position with neck fastening in place and secured by velcro fastener.

  • Are gloves observed being worn by the individual and not carried in tunic pocket, drip pants pocket or via velcro fastening on tunic.

  • Was individual observed getting dressed into personal issue od ppe in as expeditious manner as possible.

  • Did the individual consider his/ her own safety and the safety of others whilst donning personal issue of fire fighting kit.

  • On completion of dressing and after reporting to the appliance mount position or other area for reporting, has the individual achieved the task with out injury(s) to himself/ herself, others or damage to equipment including ppe.

  • Is ppe after visual inspection by assessor fit for use and being worn in the correct manner.

  • Has individual removed all jewellery from person prior to presenting themself to the reporting area in full fire fighting kit.

  • Take picture of individual

  • Enter date and time

  • Assessors signature

  • Candidates signature
