Visual Inspection

Area in Compliance for Use

  • Are there any areas or equipment where there is excessive accumulation of dust or debris?

  • How would you rate the overall condition of equipment in relation to potential ignition sources?

Case Inspection

  • Are any cracks, dents, or other damage to the case noted?

  • Are all screws and rivets tight?

  • Are there any gaps or holes in the case that could allow entry of dust or moisture?

Battery

  • Has the battery charging access cover been properly secured?

  • Is any corrosion noted on the battery connector?

  • Is any leakage or other moisture visibly present inside of the case?

Connectors

  • Is there any damage to the battery connector such as bent pins or broken sockets?

  • Does the battery cable properly seat in the connector?

  • Is there any corrosion present on the battery connector?

Display

  • Are there any cracks, scratches, or other damage to the display?

  • Are there any signs of condensation or moisture behind the display cover?

  • Is the display cover fully secured into the case?

  • Is the display fully functional?

Buttons and Switches

  • Do all buttons and switches operate as intended?

  • Are there signs of wear or damage to the buttons or switches?

  • Are all buttons and switches labeled?

Labels and Markings

  • Labels - Are all labels clear, legible, and secure?

  • Markings - Are all required markings present and legible, such as the ATEX certification mark and unique unit identifying number (serial number / asset number)?

  • Accessories - Are any accessories used also ATEX approved?

Documentation

  • When was the last inspection conducted?

  • Is there a documented maintenance and inspection schedule for ATEX equipment?

  • Please provide a photo of any damaged or deteriorated equipment discovered during the inspection.
