Instructions to Representative
-
This checklist is to be used by the AVE representative to ensure the electrical boxes, conduits, and framing complete and accurate per design specifications prior to being covered by drywall or other material. This checklist may be used if a subcontractor is performing the installation, or a crew from AVE. Be sure to address all items on this list.
If this inspection is performed by a visiting Owner’s Representative, the inspector is to create a punch list of any incomplete or incorrect items and leave a copy on site. Copies of the punch list should also be distributed as indicated above. When all items on punch list are completed, the Site Representative is to sign the punch list indicating that the work has been done, and then fax copies as indicated. The symbol next to a check box c indicates that a digital photo is required. Take shots from different angles (if necessary) to show the relationship of the device as it is installed. Similar devices require only one photo representative of the others. Follow all guidelines regarding the taking of photos.
Prior to the Trip
undefined
-
If the inspection visit requires travel and lodging, submit Travel Approval Request at least 4 weeks prior to ensure approval is given in time to take advantage of lower airfares and room rates.
-
Date Booked
-
Get it Booked.
-
Gather a set of AV drawings and all other documents related to this project.
-
Coordinate with the SPD Project Manger assigned to this project to determine the best time to visit and to acquire his approval.
-
If any kind of visa is required, be sure to acquire one prior to booking the trip.
-
What type is needed
-
Book travel following all travel guidelines and policies.
-
Most projects will require a hard hat, orange vest, safety glasses, and steel-toed shoes while on site. Some of these items may be provided by the contractor, check first.
-
What is required, and what will be provided on-site?
On Site
-
Review construction plan set being used by contractors, verify they are up to date and correct. If they are not, coordinate with project manager and architects to provide updated copies.
-
Verify local power standard:
-
Note Voltage:

Note Frequency:
-
Verify the conduit and boxes for the AV system power follow specifications.
-
If Emergency Power is specified for the project, verify that the AV equipment, Instruction Room lighting, and drapery will be on emergency power.
-
Patch Rack mounted in the correct location and at the correct heights according to the construction documents as specified
