  • Is there adequate lighting in all areas including exterior?

PERSONAL PROTECTION

  • Are all machine guards in place and properly set?

  • Are eyewash stations capped and easily accessible?

  • Is proper PPE being utilized according to the JSEA?

  • Is PPE being used appropriate for the task?

  • Are proper body mechanics being used?

CHEMICAL SAFETY

  • Are MSDS's present for all chemicals on site?

  • Are personnel aware of the location of the MSDS's?

  • Are personnel familiar with safety precautions regarding chemical usage?

  • Is only the minimum amount of chemical in the area?

  • If chemicals are in use, was its safe usage included in the JSEA up to and including emergency procedures?

COMPRESSED GAS CYLINDER USAGE AND STORAGE

  • Are gas cylinders in use properly secured to prevent tipping?

  • Are gas cylinders not in use properly secured with caps in place?

  • Are oxygen and fuel gas cylinders separated by a minimum of 20 feet or a 5ft. high wall with a half hour fire resistance rating when in storage?

  • Are cylinders stored away from highly flammable substances such as oil, gasoline, or waste?

  • Are cylinders stored away from electrical connections, gas flames or other sources of ignition, and substances such as flammable solvents and combustible waste material?

  • Are fire extinguishing equipment readily available when combustible materials could be exposed to welding or cutting operations using compressed cylinder gases?
