    By completing regular Workplace Health and Safety Inspections we can ensure that we provide the safest working environment possible and ensure that we all return home safely at the end of each working day.

    Preventative actions identified during this Workplace Health and Safety Inspection must be documented and recorded as an action in Share against the Workplace inspection record.

General requirements

  • Work environment is clean and orderly?

  • Illumination is adequate in all common areas and above workstations?

  • All equipment is clean, in a safe condition and working properly?

Fire and Emergency

  • Fire extinguishers are identified via signs and kept clear?

  • Fire extinguishers are serviced and checked on a 6 monthly basis?

  • Emergency exit signs are illuminated and working?

  • Adequate number of Fire Wardens are nominated for the floor/work area?

  • Adequate number of trained first aiders are provided on the floor/work area?

  • First Aiders and Fire Wardens are communicated to employees in the work area?

Manual Tasks

  • Are trolleys available and used to transport/move heavy items e.g. boxes paper?

  • Are items stored at safe heights? With heavier items on the lower shelves?

Electrical

  • All electrical equipment gas been tested and tagged?

  • Procedures are in place to ensure all high risk electrical equipment are turned off when not in use?

  • Are all power points, light fittings, and switches safe and in good working order?

Ergonomics

  • Are staff aware adopting good postures and aware of ergonomic hazards?

  • Are ergonomic assessments required to educate workers on ergonomic hazards in the work environment?

Chemicals

  • Are all chemicals identified and clearly labelled?

First Aid

  • Are first aid kits stocked and ready for use?

  • Are nominated first aiders trained (current and not expired)?
