  • General Safety

  • All doors leading to an egress corridor self close and positively latch .No door is held open by any device that will not automatically release when the fire alarm is activated.

  • All entrance/exit doors to egress hallways are fully operational and bear the appropriate fire rating. Frame and door have a fire rating tag, free of holes, and breakage.

  • All fire egress maps include:<br>(A) Primary and secondary escape routes<br>(B) "You Are Here" marking<br>(C) Location of pull stations and fire extinguishers along primary and secondary escape routes.

  • All panic bars are in good condition and function properly.

  • All emergency lighting is in good condition and operational.

  • All exit lighting is operational and indicate the proper direction of egress.

  • All egress lighting operational.

  • All exterior light fixtures are operational.

  • CO2 detectors are installed in the proper locations and fully functional.

  • All ceiling tiles are in place and do not have a hole or crack greater than 1/8 " inch.

  • All electrical distribution panel have a 3 foot entryway to panel. All panel doors close and lock.

  • Permanent electrical circuits are utilized rather than extension cords.

  • G.F.C.I. receptacles are present and operational.

  • Electrical panels are properly labeled.

  • All electrical knockouts are in place.

  • Area is free of missing ceiling or floor tiles.

  • Walking surfaces are free of water or spilled liquids.

  • Area sidewalks are free of cracks greater than 1/4".

  • Walking surfaces are free of of trip hazards such as tears, bumps, or carpet sags.

  • Area is free of broken/cracked glass in doors or windows.

  • Materials are safely stacked and not within 18" vertically or 36" horizontally of a sprinkler head.

  • Area is free of missing light lens covers on ceiling/study light fixtures.

  • Cleaning materials are properly stored and not left unattended.

  • All janitorial closets, elevator, and mechanical rooms are closed and locked.

  • All flammable and hazardous materials are properly stored. When not in use all flammable storage cabinets remain closed.

  • All flammable or hazardous storage cabinets are vented to the outside.

  • Dryer vents are clean and appropriate.

  • Area is free from evidence of vermin.

  • S.D.S. or M.S.D.S. information is available to staff and students for the chemicals they are utilizing or exposed to.

  • Restrooms are clean,in good repair,and G.F.C.I present as required.
