Precautions

  • Are there SDS present for clay containing crystalline silica

  • Are there any rugs or carpet on the floors?

  • Is there a sign present warning occupants of the dangers of working in this area?

  • Does clay mixing occur on site

  • Does this process take place in a separate room

  • Is there a clay mixer present with machine guards to limit adding clay or water while blades are turning?

  • Does clay mixing area have local exhaust ventilation system to remove fine silica from the air?

  • Is it possible to use pre-mixed clay instead of mixing on site? (Future Buildout)

  • Are the air returns for the comfort cooling system equipped with filtration devices?

  • Are separate work clothes available for occupants engaging with use of clay?

  • Who is responsible for washing clothes used in these activities?

  • Are the closthes of material and design that don't trap dust?

  • Are the clothes washed weekly and separate from other laundry?

  • How many sinks are in the room?

  • How many people use the space simultaneously?

  • Are the drain lines of the sink outfitted with any devices to limit silica dust from entering sanitary sewer main line?
