Pre-Start Checklist

  • Clean the outside of the machine.

  • Check that nuts and screws are tight.

  • Check the air filter and clean if necessary.

  • Check that the chain brake operates and the chain catcher is undamaged.

  • Remove the bar.

  • Check/clean the bar groove and the oil hole in the bar.

  • Grease the sprocket tip.

  • Check the drive sprocket for excessive wear and report if necessary.

  • Check the saw chain for damage or wear.

  • Refit the bar upside down.

  • Refit and tension the chain.

  • Sharpen or replace the chain as required.

  • Fill the fuel and oil tanks ensuring no leaks are evident.

Operational Checks

  • Check that the stop switch works correctly.

  • Check the oil flow prior to the first cut.

  • Constantly monitor the chain sharpness and tension. Sharpen and tension as needed.

Post-Operative Maintenance

  • Clean and inspect the machine.

  • Remove the guide bar and chain then clean the area around the clutch drum.

  • Refit the bar and chain and correctly tension.

  • Clean the work area and report any faults found.

  • Store the saw in a clean, dry environment.
