Pre-Start Checklist

Clean the outside of the machine.

Check that nuts and screws are tight.

Check the air filter and clean if necessary.

Check that the chain brake operates and the chain catcher is undamaged.

Remove the bar.
-
Check/clean the bar groove and the oil hole in the bar.

Grease the sprocket tip.
-
Check the drive sprocket for excessive wear and report if necessary.

Check the saw chain for damage or wear.

Refit the bar upside down.

Refit and tension the chain.
-
Sharpen or replace the chain as required.

Fill the fuel and oil tanks ensuring no leaks are evident.
Operational Checks

Check that the stop switch works correctly.

Check the oil flow prior to the first cut.

Constantly monitor the chain sharpness and tension. Sharpen and tension as needed.
Post-Operative Maintenance

Clean and inspect the machine.

Remove the guide bar and chain then clean the area around the clutch drum.

Refit the bar and chain and correctly tension.
-
Clean the work area and report any faults found.

Store the saw in a clean, dry environment.
