Mobile Hairdressing Requirements

  • A suitable treatment area must be selected. If the treatment area is dirty, cluttered or <br>inappropriate (e.g. in the kitchen), the mobile operator should refuse to carry out any <br>procedures

  • Mobile operators should have facilities to adequately store all clean and used equipment, <br>linen and waste products safely in separate containers before and after use and while in <br>transit

  • Any vehicle used to perform procedures must be connected to the sewer or have a <br>wastewater storage tank suitable for the reception of all liquid wastes. Wastewater <br>storage tanks must be discharged to the sewer and not to the stormwater

  • Hand wash facilities at each location shall be easily accessible. They shall consist of an <br>adequate supply of potable water. Alternatively, waterless alcohol-based antiseptic hand <br>gels, foams, or liquids can be used by mobile operators

  • Appropriate sterilisation of critical appliances:<br>(a) Steam under pressure (moist heat) sterilisation autoclaving<br>(b) Dry heat sterilisation (min 1 hr @ 160°C)

  • Autoclave:<br>- Serviced annually or as per manufacturer instructions<br>- Biological Live Spore testing completed at least monthly<br>- Autoclave is in a clean and well maintained condition<br>- Autoclave is not overstocked to ensure adequate sterilisation of equipment<br>- Sterilised items stored in a clean dry area away from direct sunlight

Disinfection Procedures for Skin

  • Skin disinfection procedure prior to all skin penetration

Acupuncture

  • Skin disinfected before procedure with new alcohol wipe per body part

  • Sterile disposable needles and tubes used

  • Dermal hammers to be sterilised if used

Body Piercing

  • Disposable needles used

  • Sterilisable / appropriate jewellery used

  • Ear Piercing gun cleaned effectively:<br>- wiped over with damp detergent cloth if unable to be submerged<br>- sprayed with 70% isopropyl alcohol<br>- stored clean in container (container regularly cleaned)

Beauty Therapy

  • Single use spatulas / ladles for wax used

  • Reused wax is filtered and thermally disinfected at 130°C for > 20 mins

  • Wax roller cartridges are used ONCE per client. Not wiping over cartridge head with alcohol and using on multiple clients.

  • Skin needling:<br>- Single use needles<br>- Hand piece wiped over with disinfectant after use

  • Non invasive items such as tweezers and nozzles scrubbed with warm soapy water - not left soaking in disinfectant

  • Disposable needles used for electrolysis

Tattooing / Makeup Tattooing

  • Note: ask if needles/cartridges are purchased from a reputable supplier to ensure anti-backflow membrane is present

  • Disposable needles used for tattoing / disposable blades used for microblading

Nail Salons

  • Disposable nail files can be bagged and labeled for the client at next appt
    UV is not an adequate disinfection method for tools

  • Disposable nailfiles and equipment used once per client / metal or plastic nail file and other tools cleaned and disinfected between clients

  • Razor scrapers (callus removers) must be sterilised or use disposable blades
