Should further action be required, within four (4) weeks of the date of this letter Council requires you to submit a plan of action with acceptable timeframes for compliance. All works (unless agreed upon otherwise) should be completed within three (3) months.

You should be aware that under the Protection of Environment Operations Act 1997 it is an offense to pollute any waters. Penalties for this offence can be up $120,000 for individuals and $250,000 for corporations. Breaches of this legislation through inappropriate cleaning methods and allowing contaminants to enter the stormwater system may attract a $1,500 on the spot fine or court action for more serious breaches.
