Plant, Tools and Machinery

  • People are not being lifted on/in forks, buckets, etc.

  • All dangerous parts guarded, e.g. gears, chain drives, projecting engine shafts, as appropriate.

  • All Air Lines. Hydraulic Lines or similar are secured by Whip Restraints.

Work at Height

  • All scaffolding is in good condition and weekly inspection tag attached.

  • All edges where a fall could occur are protected.

  • Any openings or lift shafts at ground level or above are protected.

  • Where used, ladders are for sort term works and do not replace a working platform.

  • MEWPS are being driven/used safely.

  • Where required, any person working at height is protected by fall arrest.

  • If hoists are being used, are they correctly installed/certified and have a clear SWL?

Energies

  • Overhead lines are protected from strike.

  • Buried Services are marked on drawings and identified on site.

  • Only 110v electrical supply (or battery) in use on site.

  • All cables that need to run along the ground are protected from damage.

  • Any mains gas supply is safe and capped.

  • All bottle gases are secured while in use and correctly stored when not in use.

  • Any machinery exposing workers to Vibration Hazards is correctly maintained and use is reduced as far as possible.

Hazardous Substances

  • An SDS file is available for all substances on site.

  • Chemical risk assessments have bene completed where necessary.

  • All diesel/petrol/LPG or other fuels are stored in bunded containers.

  • All fixed fueling points are protected by fresh drip trays.

  • Any on site fueling is via Kite Marked CE containers only.

  • No substances decanted into unmarked containers.
