Site Safety Inspection Checklist

Welfare Facilities - Proprietary Welfare facilities compliant to CDM Regs 2015 on site.

  • Seating area

  • Drinking Water/Means of Heating Food

  • Toilet area Clean and Tidy with the required accessories

  • DEB Hand Care Station or Hand towels / Antiseptic wipes/ Sanitary

General Site Safety

  • Signage on site (entry, smoking area and fire assembly point etc). Is the signage in good condition, clear & readable.

  • Slip, trip and falls (Are control measure in place to avoid slips trips and falls , Are known slips trips and fall hazards adequately controlled)

  • Manual Handling (Are manual handling techniques being followed )

  • Housekeeping (Site generally clean & tidy appearance)

  • Housekeeping and storage of COSHH products (If applicable data loggers in stores)

  • Lighting sufficient and suffice

  • Access & Egress - Can everyone get to their place of work safely and work in safety

Electrical

  • Cables free of cuts, abrasions , Cables / Transformer / splitter boxes not in water , Connector plugs in good condition , All power tools, leads etc. P No 240v/415v power on site without special measures (RCD / RCBO, armoured cables) , Accommodation has electrical certificate , Earth rods in place for generator.

Site Security

  • Site Security Arrangements in place

Traffic Management

  • Traffic Management - Movement of vehicles controlled / Pedestrians

  • Adequate Parking for all vehicles

PPE & RPE

  • Mandatory PPE being worn

  • Correct type of PPE being worn

  • PPE & RPE being used, stored, maintained & Cleaned appropriately

  • Are operatives using RPE trained and tested

Refueling / Mixing Stations (Inc. Spill kits)

  • Refueling station set up , Spill kit in place , Fire Extinguisher located at refueling station , Protective Sheeting in place , Fuel Bunded , Transfer of fuel using approved containers,

  • Fire extinguishers correct type, Is fuel stored in appropriate containers , Is the fuel store bunded , Is there a suitable split kit , Are temporary fuel lines from bowsers bunded and in a suitable position on site.

  • Bunding / trip trays/Nappies in use and suitable and sufficient for the task , No visible evidence of fuel spillages

Confined Space Entry

  • Gas monitor in calibration date, Harnesses in date , Tripod and winch correctly erected , CSC permit in place , Ventilation in place , Gas bottles not stored , radio present, 3 buckets and changing mat,, top man present, tablets in date, safe access and egress inside the hatch. Personnel entry is logged and recorded. Tablets present and within date. Top man duties are being adhered too.

  • Tripod & Winch Calibrated & certified

Inside Confined space – Reservoir

  • Escape sets in date, Escapes sets fully charged, Sufficient number of escape sets close at hand, Gas bottles not stored, lighting suitable and suffice. Data loggers present, mixing station, correct. Ventilation and air conditions sufficient, hot works permit in place, bottles have back arrestor.

Jet washing

  • Jetter tanks clean and free of debri, Whip ties in place on all hoses , Hearing protection zone around the jetter established, Jetter operative wearing wet suit and wellingtons , Pressure dump hand operational , System bursting disc in place. Operatives Trained

Grit blasting

  • Air quality to the blast helmet checked , All whip ties in place on air lines , Communication system established with blast operative , Blast operative wearing the correct PPE , Blasting nozzle dead man’s handle operational

Breaking / Grinding / Surface Prep

  • Damping down employed, RPE the correct type, Vibration data available for equipment, HAVS being managed and recorded , Hearing protection worn , Hearing protection zones established and signposted, Is there adequate dust suppression in place.

Grinders

  • Operatives using grinders are trained

  • Grinders are fit for purpose - no loose cables, handles fitted etc.

Hang-digging

  • CAT & Genny scanned, Spoil heap at least 1M away from excavations , barriers in place,

Working At Height

  • Mobile Alloy Scaffolding- Mobile towers erected by PASMA accredited erectors , Erection instructions on site Mobile tower wheels locked in place , Kick boards in place , Hand rails in place , Stabilizers full extended and in place , toe-boards in place Not overloaded / Weight evenly distributed

  • Evidence of person who erected tower to be trained and competant

  • Scaf tags in place or documentation in place identifying when and who erected the scaffold/mobile etc

Ladder/step ladders/ hop ups

  • In good condition, Used for short duration tasks only , Used correctly , Do all relevant ladders rise a sufficient height above landing platforms (5 rungs) , Securely tied if over 3m , At correct angle (1 in 4) , Secured against trespass at end of shift. Rungs free from debris and damage

Pollution & Contamination ( Inside res)

  • Waste management area setup .

  • Water courses protected , Water from leaking valves / washing controlled and drained away , Washout outlet located and protected

  • Is the mixing operative when using 2 pack systems placing mixed material into the hardener container

  • Emergency spills response

Environmental Management

  • Waste management area setup

  • Nuisances / Air / Noise/Dust - Positioning on Welfare Units/plant and generators to minimise nuisance to local community.

  • Biological Hazards considered - weils, psstortsis etc

  • Protection of flora and fauna considered

  • Water Environment - Silt control measures in place when dewatering. Appropriate discharge consent documents and methods in place , No visible signs of contamination in the water course , Spill kit present, stocked and appropriate located on site , Refuelling procedures in place , Bunding / trip trays in use and suitable and sufficient for the task , No visible evidence of fuel spillages
