  • Is the lighting sufficient of the task being undertaken?

  • Are floor surfaces free from spillages or slippery surfaces e.g., water, excessive amounts of dust?

  • Are walkways free from obstructions or discarded materials that pose a slip, trips and falls hazard?

  • Are there any items/equipment protruding into aisles and walkways?

  • Are waste bins and skips being emptied on a regular basis?

  • Are all fire extinguishers in place?

  • Is fire extinguisher signage displayed, giving details of the type of extinguisher and what it can be used on?

  • Are fire extinguishers free from obstruction?

  • Are all fire exits and escape walkways kept clear of any obstructions?

  • Are all fire call points free from obstructions?

  • Do all call points have location signs displayed?

  • Are there any hazardous substances stored in places other than clearly marked steel cabinets?

  • Are all steel cabinets/flam vaults closed when not in use?

  • Are there any signs of damage to any racking that is used?

  • Are materials being stacked being placed on a flat and firm foundation?

  • Is there a First Aid box available and is it stocked?

  • Are eye-wash stations stocked?

  • Are electrical panels closed and locked where appropriate?

  • Are extension cables being used in the correct manner e.g., reel extension being fully unwound, no ‘daisy chaining’ (plugging an extension into another)?
