Execution of Work

Hangers

  • Are hangers straight and plumb?

  • Are hangers installed to manufacturer's guidelines?

  • Are hanger and supports proper spaced and independently supported?

  • Are hanger damaged or been removed by other trades?

  • Are hangers installed to NFPA 13 standards?

  • Are hangers of the CORPS listed approved material

Pipe, Fittings and Valves

  • Is proper schedule of pipe being used? (2-1/2" and larger diameter pipe Schedule 10 and 2" and smaller diameter pipe Schedule 40)

  • Is pipe free of physical damage?

  • Is pipe and fittings installed free of foreign debris or corrosion?

  • Are joints and fittings properly installed

  • Verify that indicating valve is working and in the correct position for system condition?

  • All floor control valves are installed properly

  • All valves and devices are accessible

  • Drain line installed

  • Are all outlet capped and plugged at the end of shift?

  • No piping, wiring or duct is touching sprinkler pipe

  • No more than 4 threads visible on threaded joints?

  • All bolts shall extend no less than three full threads

  • Are all bolts torqued to manufacturer's guidelines?

  • Has all pipe been pressure/water tested?

  • All material installed meet CORPS approval?

Sprinkler Heads and Flexible Connections

  • Are the proper temperature rating sprinkler heads installed?

  • Are brackets attached to ceiling grid as per manufacturer's guidelines

  • Are sprinkler head guards installed properly

  • Are sprinkler heads obstructed?

  • Are sprinkler heads free of paint, corrosion, or other non-approved contaminants?

  • Are sprinkler head located at least 1 foot away from diffuser?

  • All material installed meets CORPS approval ?

Design Installation

  • Are hangers within 12" of the end of the line

  • No sprinkler heads are further than 7'-6" or closer than 6" from walls

  • Sprinkler heads are installed under ductwork 4'-0" or greater

  • Mechanical rooms with ceilings lower than 8' above FF have sprinkler heads with guards?

  • Do sprinkler spacing exceed 130 sq. ft. in ordinary hazard areas.

  • Do all low points in sprinkler system exceeding 5 gallons must have a drain?

Underground

  • Is bedding at the proper depth and material?

  • Are all bolts torqued to manufacturer's specification?

  • Are all rods and bolts are tar coated?

  • Is tracker wire installed

  • Is marking tape 1' foot above pipe?

  • Is underground installed as per drawings

  • All installed materials meet USACE approved submittals
