  • DRIVER WALK AROUND CHECKS AND DEFECT REPORT

    DRIVERS VEHICLE CHECK INSTRUCTIONS

At the commencement of your shift you should always carry out a check of your vehicle/trailer as per the
checklist before leaving your depot. Any defects identified should be reported to the Transport Office using
the electronic reporting system, and also via telephone.
(In case of a system malfunction the Emergency paper defect reporting forms supplied should be used.)

Note: Your vehicle/trailer must not leave the depot with any defect that could be considered safety related
or which could possibly attract a prohibition notice or a fixed penalty if checked by VOSA or other
    enforcement agencies.
Only when you are satisfied that your vehicle in your opinion is in a safe and roadworthy condition should you
commence your journey after ticking the ‘nil defect’ box and signing your daily vehicle check report.
Once your journey has commenced and during your shift you must monitor the vehicle and trailer for any
defects that arise. Should any defects occur no matter how small or large these must be reported. A defect
report as soon as safely possible to do so, or on your return to depot (the latest) must be completed.
Please remember a new walk around checks and report should be completed and submitted for every
vehicle and trailer used during your shift.

If you have any questions regarding the above instructions, please contact your team leader.
