Hazards and Mitigations Review

  • Driving Near Large Mobile Equipment Stay in view of equipment operators, get visual confirmation, use buggy whip when required

  • Backing Up Circle check, pull-through parking preferred, back in parking next preference when permitted, use a spotter in congested areas

  • Thick Fog / Hard Rain / Heavy Snow Stay put - don't drive

  • Loss of Control Due to Cruise Control Do not use cruise control in urban areas, wet or slippery roads

  • Road Rage Remain patient, don't let others influence your driving

  • Fatigue Stop - don't drive, plan ahead with rest, take breaks

  • Rough Road Surface Slow down and control speed

  • Cell Phones Restrict to hands free in non-urban areas, place far out of reach to resist any temptation

  • Tail-Gaters Remain patient, increase distance from vehicle in front of you to give more braking time
