Operating Steps

Platen Configuration

  • Choose appropriate platen. The compactor platen (round) fastens to the end of the cylinder rod, the crusher platen (square) slides onto the edge of the compactor platen. The crusher platen is heavy, it is recommended that 2 employees perform the task together.

Failure to read/understand the entire manual before installing, using or servicing the product constitutes misuse

  • Will NOT accommodate smooth walled drums (without ribs)

  • Step 1 - Select appropriate platen

  • Step 2 - Place drum inside crusher and centered

  • Step 3 - Close and latch door

  • Step 4 - Turn the key (control box) to the appropriate mode (crush/compact)

  • Step 5 - Pull out RED emergency stop button

  • Step 6 - Press "Cycle Start" button and HOLD until motor engages

Emergency Stop Button

  • The ram can be stopped at any point during a cycle. To stop the ram, press the RED emergency stop button located on the Control Panel. Pressing the button instantly stops the motor and prevents the cylinder from cycling any further. To disengage, PULL stop button out. Press the cycle start button to retract cylinder, returning the platen to the home position. The drum crusher is now ready for normal operation.

Safe Use Recommendations

  • Do NOT operate with loading door open

  • Do NOT stand in front of door during operation

  • Do NOT service or clean unit unless power is disconnected

  • Keep clear of all moving parts during operation

  • Drums MUST be empty for CRUSH mode

Special Considerations

  • Inspect/repair before operating crusher. High pressure hydraulic fluid easily punctures skin and cause injury.

  • Use only AW-32 Hydraulic fluid

  • Do NOT modify in any way
