EHS Inspection Criteria

  • Are walkways and aisles clear of carts, pallets, and all other obstructions that would affect pedestrian and equipment travel?

  • Are all work areas, walkways, and aisles clear of tripping hazards such as shrink wrap, broken pallets, debris, extension cords, etc

  • Are all work areas, walkways, and aisles free from slipping hazards such as spills, ice buildup, receipt backing, etc.?

  • Are all doorways and exit doors free from obstructions and clearly marked?

  • Are all doorways and exit doors free from obstructions and clearly marked?

  • Are all fire extinguishers clear and free from obstructions?

  • Are all eyewash stations clear and free from obstructions?

  • Do all fire extinguishers and emergency eyewash/emergency shower stations have a current inspection?

  • Do all fire extinguishers and emergency eyewash/emergency shower stations have a current inspection?

  • Are all electrical panels clear and free from obstructions with 36” of clearance in all directions?

  • Are all hazardous operations isolated and performed in designated locations? (Welding, Cutting, Grinding, Etc.)

  • Are rags kept in self-closing containers?

  • Is there adequate illumination when facility is occupied?

  • Are restroom and washing facilities sanitary?

  • Are first aid supplies and equipment available?

  • Are ladders in good condition?

  • Do ladders have an inspection tag with a current inspection?

  • Is Powered Industrial Equipment operated safely and by trained operators only?

  • Are hazardous material containers properly labeled and stored?

  • Are compressed gas cylinders properly secured and stored?

  • Are general dilution or local exhaust ventilation systems used to control dusts, vapors, gases, fumes, smoke, solvents, or mists which may be generated?

  • Is the ventilation equipment operating properly?

  • Are above ground/underground fuel and other tanks properly protected from damage and enclosed by dikes or otherwise contained?

  • Is personal protective equipment properly stored, maintained, and in use where required?

  • Are pallets, baskets, and racks in good condition?

  • Are pallets inspected prior to loading or moving?

  • Are pallets and product being stacked and stored safely?

  • Are pick sticks being used to retrieve cases that are out of reach?

  • Is there improper handling of materials, including lifting?

  • Are trucks and trailers secured from movement during loading, unloading, and maintenance operations?

  • Are vehicles shut off and brakes set prior to loading, unloading, or maintenance?

  • Are all machine guards in place and in working order?

  • Are all tasks being performed within the guidelines of the applicable Prescribed Work Methods?

  • Are dock control electrical cords free of defects?

  • Is dock equipment working properly? (Levelers, doors, restraints, etc.)

  • Are the docking system lights working properly?

  • Are wheel chock blocks in place?

  • Are dock/trailer lights in operable condition?
