Inspection Elements

1 - GENERAL

  • 1.1 - Is there a WHS management plan in place?

5 - SIGNAGE

  • 5.1 - Is appropriate signage displayed where a particular hazardous process is occurring or where specific PPE is required?

  • 5.2 - Does signage on the fence have relevant information - Including construction site sign, emergency procedure and builders certifier's details?

6 - HAZARDOUS CHEMICALS

  • 6.1 - Are safety data sheets (S.D.S) available to workers for any hazardous chemicals at the workplace?

  • 6.2 - Is there a hazardous substances register readily available and up to date?

  • 6.3 - Are containers correctly labelled?

7 - WORK AREAS|HOUSKEEPING|AMENITIES

  • 7.1 - Are work areas tidy?

  • 7.2 - Are rubbish bins emptied regularly?

8 - POWERED HAND TOOLS

9 - TRENCHES & EXCAVATIONS

  • 9.1 - Have SWMS been developed for any trenches exceeding 1.5 metres in depth when a person is required to enter?

  • 9.2 - Are trenches/excavations suitably benched, battered or shored?

  • 9.3 - Are trenches/excavations suitably protected to prevent people falling in?

  • 9.4 - Have enquiries been made with 'Dial before you dig' prior too starting ?

10 - PLANT|MACHINERY

  • 10.1 - Are regular inspections conducted and records maintained?

  • 10.2 - Is there adequate and well maintained guarding in place?

  • 10.3 - Are operators appropriately licenced/competent to operate equipment?

  • 10.4 - Have SWMS been developed for any powered mobile plant?

  • 10.5 - Are workers wearing high visibility vests where mobile plant is operating?

  • 10.6 - Are forklifts fitted with operational audible reversing beepers?

  • 10.7 - Have risk assessments been undertaken in relation to plant and machinery ?

11 - ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT

  • 11.1 - Are all leads & electrical equipment tested and tagged as required?

  • 11.2 - Are RCD's being used , tested as required & records maintained?

  • 11.3 - Are extension leads in good condition?

  • 11.4 - Is clear access provided to the electrical switchboards?

  • 11.5 - Are controls in place where working in proximity to high voltage electrical cables?

12 - SITE SECURITY

  • 12.1 Is there potential for Temp Fencing to collapse?

  • 12.2 - Is there potential for unauthorised access on the site by any individuals?

  • 12.3 - Is fencing erected on a firm foundation throughout the construction site?

  • 12.4 - Are all fence fittings (Including Clamps) installed securely, with the nuts on the inside for opening safely?

  • 12.5 - Are gates overlapped so they can be locked easily, and are they reasonably level for opening safely?

  • 12. 6 - Are there missing Temp Fence panels around the perimeter of the construction site?

  • 12.7 - Is sediment fence installed and in good order?
