Fire protection

  • Proper number of abc Fire extinguishers, charged, inspected visible (within 100' of each worker and 50' of any flammable liquids or hot works)

  • Proper fuel containers used

  • Hot works procedures adhered with? (Combustibles moved away from hot works or covered with fire blanket, all sparks controlled, fire watch procedures in place)

  • Compressed gas cylinders secured upright, and used properly

  • No smoking near flammables

  • Welding shields used to protect surrounding persons

Extension / A frame Ladders

  • Inspected for defects

  • Secured properly with two man procedure

  • Proper angle 4:1 pitch and 3' above landing

  • No carrying materials up ladder. Procedures in place (backpack, rope and tie off, mechanical equipment) to get material to roof safely.

  • Not using the top two steps of A frame ladder

  • Properly utilized in locked position

  • Used for its intended purpose and inspected for structural defects

Electrical

  • GFCI tested and documented

  • Electrical systems have proper covers and no exposed wiring

  • Electrical cords in good condition

  • All ladders, scaffolding, and equipment kept a minimum of 10' from overhead power lines

  • Equipment properly locked out and de-energized

Tools & Equipment

  • Tools and equipment inspected and in good condition?

  • Guards in place and properly used

  • Utility knives sharp and employees cutting away from the body
