Precast

Curtain wall

  • Is curtain wall being installed?

  • Is all precast caulked and ready for frames?

  • Has Twincity Glass signed off on openings where frames are being installed?

  • Verify that PVC shim blocks are installed at each mullion for dead load support

  • Are plastic structural shims used to separate dissimilar materials, e.g., aluminum anchors from in beds and precast

  • Verify that glass setting blocks are a minimum of 4" in width, positioned at approximate 1/4 points and are centered so that they fully support interior and exterior lites of glass

  • Verify that slip shims and bolts at slip connections are installed in a way that will allow movement. Detail from shop drawings 2/D-13

  • Verify that surfaces are clean and back wiped in accordance with Dow Corning instructions prior to silicone application. Verify that perimeter seal backer rod is positioned to allow maximum adhesion on aluminum surfaces, particularly in areas where there is a plastic backer rod filler in place. Verify that the sealant joint applied at the sill a) maintains good adhesion behind the weep hole, and b) does not cover the weep hole in any way. Detail from shop drawing 2/D-01 Typical.

  • Verify that vertical mullion splices contain a bead of silicone 4" up from the horizontal mullion. Zone dams are installed correctly and sealed. Detail from shop drawings 3/D-01

  • Sealant adhesion test after full sealant cure, should be done at least one time or joint detail and periodically throughout construction

  • Verify that ends of exterior aluminum covers are capped with silicone seals. Detail from shop drawing 2/D-01 typical

  • Verify that weep slots are present at the horizontal glass leg at approximately 4" from each end and that slots are approximately 1" long. Verify that covers engaging exterior horizontal sill members contain weep slots at approximate 2" from each end and that slots are approximately 1" long. Detail from shop drawing 2/D-01 Typical

  • Are anti-walk blocks installed as require?

  • General appearance is acceptable / no noticeable damage or flaws

  • Verify that cover is set into a continuous bead of silicone. Detail from shop drawing 2/D-01 typical

  • Are weeps clear of debris and caulking?

  • Are frames installed plumb, level, square, and at the correct elevation?

  • Frames and glass appear to be without damage

Metal Panels

  • Drain tubes holes are protected with open cell foamed baffle.

  • Gutter/drainage channels and weep tubes are clear of debris prior installing FSK insulation

  • All Vapor barriers are properly terminated?

  • Drain tubes are extended past the exterior place.

  • All condensation trays are sealed on the top and have end dams.

  • Tape has sufficient bond to all surfaces.
