What is the minimum working age in the workplace?

How do you monitor this? (No children under the age of 15 may be employed under any circumstances. In addition, no child who has not completed either the ninth grade, or who has not attended school until the last school day of the year in which the learner has reached the age of 15 may be employed. Documentation to be on record. Ensure age verified on employment.)

Young persons special measures - check hours of work and that night work is avoided where possible by younger employees. Ensure that the younger employees do not perform potential hazardous work.

Is there a senior representative responsible for health and safety of employees or persons visiting the workplace, if so who is this person?

Is there a formal system in place for identifying and addressing health and safety risks in the workplace?

Is there a record of the assessment and a plan in place to address identified risks?

Are there safety representatives nominated, appointed in writing and active on site?

Are formal safety meetings held on site and are records available of these meetings? (To be conducted every 3 months minimum)

Is there sufficient ventilation in the facility?

Is there sufficient heating or cooling in the facility?

Is there sufficient lighting in the facility?

Is noise a problem, and if so, are the employees issued with the appropriate PPE?

First Aid

Where are the first aid kits located?

Are there trained and appointed first aiders on site and how many?

Are the first aiders clearly identified on the first aid boxes?

Is a valid list of emergency numbers displayed?
