Fire Code Requirements

  • Worksites equipped with firefighting material at all times?

  • Firefighting material located in prominent, easily noticeable area?

  • Indicate on floor plan below where each of the firefighting material is located.

  • Firefighting equipment is inspected per state/local mandates?

  • Indicate last inspection date/time

  • Firefighting equipment appears recently updated and in working order?

  • Extinguisher meets one of the following criteria:<br>(i) no less than 2A rating<br>(ii) 55-gallon open drum of water with at least 2 fire buckets provided per 3,000 sq. ft. of building area

  • Distance to reach fire extinguishing equipment (extinguisher or gallon drum) is no more than 100 feet away?

  • Extinguishers with a rating of 2A or greater are available on each floor of the building?

  • Is there at least one fire extinguisher next to the stairwell?

  • Is firefighting material kept out of freezing conditions of 0 degrees Celsius or 32 degrees Fahrenheit?

  • Are there more than 5 gallons of flammable or combustible liquids, or 5 pounds of flamable gas present?

  • Is there a fire extinguisher, rated no less than 10B, available within 50 feet?

Fire Prevention

  • Exhausts from engine powered equipment are reasonable distance from explosive material?

  • In the event that engine exhausts are piped outside of the worksite structure, is piping at least 6 inches away from the explosive material?

  • If explosive materials are piled, are piles lower than 20 feet?

  • Is the lawn reasonably kept with periodic, scheduled work-yard cleanup in place?

  • Explosive materials that are stored outdoors are at least 10 feet from the structure or indoor worksite?

  • The storage of materials DOES NOT block any exits within indoor working structures? <br><br>Answer YES if exits are open<br>Answer NO if any exits are blocked by stored material

  • The storage of materials within the work structure is setup in a way that minimizes the spread of fire within a given structure?

  • Is there enough space between heat-producing objects (lightbulbs, heating units)?

  • Are construction supplies kept at least 36 inches away from the open range of the fire door?
