DAILY CHECKS - These checks are to be completed on a daily basis. If the checkbox is checked then the item/task is deemed satisfactory. If there is any non conforming items the box must remain unchecked until the task is completed. If a task is incomplete because of damaged equipment, then a picture must be taken using the media facility at the end of the audit. The FM must be notified immediately, and then the item logged within the Corrective Action Log located on the Shared Drive.

General Gym Cleaning

  • Daily Tasks:

    1. Mop and/or hoover gym floor, empty hoover bag.
    2. Empty and clean bins
    3. Visually check all loose functional equipment for wear & tear, remove any pieces unfit for use from the gym floor & report to Fitness Manager
    4. Clean floor mats
    5. Clean water fountain
    6. Test all cardio theatre/Personal screens are operational and report faults if needed.
    7. Dust/wipe audio/visual equipment
    8. Dust and wipe clean clip frames/poster boards/fire extinguishers
    9. Ensure all light bulbs work notify technical for those that need replacing
    10. Clean all mirrors & wipe marks off any windows
    11. Clean the blade and cage of any additional fan units.
    12. Visually check TRX straps & replace as needed (Refer to TRX guidance sheets)
    13. Visually check any steps used within the gym for wear & tear, remove any with lifted rubber tops or feet

    Note: Record keeping - Retain these records electronically, titling them by site & year & ensure that they are accessible to both fitness & operational teams.

CV Equipment Cleaning - Incl. Group Cycling Bikes

  • Daily Tasks:

    1. Clean the body of all CV machines using a cloth moistened with water & appropriate Sanitizer
    2. Clean all CV machine consoles using a cloth dampened with the same cleaning fluid as above, make sure not to rub too hard, especially on the display keys. Re test functions of the console once clean.
    3. Visually check all equipment including covers, consoles & cables - report any defects to Technical Manager & or equipment service cover provider
    4. Clean the entire machine with water based neutral cleanser (as above).
    5. Hoover and/or mop underneath the equipment. Including Group Cycling floor area (if applicable)
    6. Turn all treadmills on, one at a time & and set at a speed of approximately 5 km/h (3 mph), press the emergency button and check that the machine stops. Visually check the safety cord & clip, report any defects

    Never spray the product directly onto the machine. CAUTION: do not use alcohol, benzene, or chemical products in general.

  • 2. Clean all CV machine consoles using a cloth dampened with the same cleaning fluid as above, make sure not to rub too hard, especially on the display keys. Re test functions of the console once clean.

Fitness Resistance Equipment Cleaning

  • Daily Tasks:

    1. Clean the upholstery of all Fixed Resistance machines using a cloth moistened with water & appropriate sanitizer
    2. Dry the upholstery after cleaning using centre feed roll (or equivalent).
    3. Visually check all equipment including covers, upholstery & cables - report any defects to Technical Manager & or equipment service cover provider
    4. Clean the entire machine using a cloth dampened with the same cleaner as above; make sure not to rub too hard, especially on the display keys and the Plexiglas weight stack guard.
    5. Visually check all resistance bands in the gym, remove any with signs of wear/splits

    Never spray the product directly onto the machine. CAUTION: do not use alcohol, benzene, or chemical products in general.
    CAUTION: remove any surface rust spots with a metal scrubber.

  • 1. Clean the upholstery of all Fixed Resistance machines using a cloth moistened with water & appropriate sanitizer

  • 2. Dry the upholstery after cleaning using centre feed roll (or equivalent).

  • 3. Visually check all equipment including covers, upholstery & cables - report any defects to Technical Manager & or equipment service cover provider

  • 4. Clean the entire machine using a cloth dampened with the same cleaner as above; make sure not to rub too hard, especially on the display keys and the Plexiglas weight stack guard.

  • 5. Visually check all resistance bands in the gym, remove any with signs of wear/splits

Free Weight Equipment Cleaning

  • Daily Tasks:

    1. Clean all Free Weights & Racks using a cloth moistened with water & appropriate sanitizer.
    2. Visually check all free weights, plates & barbells - report any defects to Technical Manager & or equipment service cover provider
    3. Hoover and/or mop underneath the equipment and storage area.
    4. Visually check all core balls in the gym, remove any with signs of wear/nicks on the surface
    Never spray the product directly onto the machine. CAUTION: do not use alcohol, benzene, or chemical products in general.

  • 1. Clean all Free Weights & Racks using a cloth moistened with water & appropriate sanitizer.

  • 2. Visually check all free weights, plates & barbells - report any defects to Technical Manager & or equipment service cover provider

  • 3. Hoover and/or mop underneath the equipment and storage area.

  • 4. Visually check all core balls in the gym, remove any with signs of wear/nicks on the surface

Closedown Procedures

  • Closedown Procedures:

    1. Switch off all lights
    2. Switch off Air Conditioning
    3. Switch off Gym PC & Log out of advantage
    4. Switch off all CV equipment
    5. Switch off TVs
    6. Switch off stereo
