Access and Egress

  • Paths to exits are clear of debris, obstacles, or slip and trip hazards?

  • Can vehicles enter or exit safely?

  • Are all exits labeled with proper signage?

  • Do walkways and aisle ways have at least 22 inches clearance?

Fire extinguishers

  • Are adequate fire extinguishers provided for use and located near exits (within 75 ft, every level, near exits)

  • Inspect and confirm that each in use fire extinguisher is current, pressurized, mounted, and identified with a sign

  • Log the monthly inspection on the tag with date and initials

  • Are stored fire extinguishers (new and removed from service) located in the correct area? Are they upright and organized? Are the new ones still in working order?

  • Confirm when stored fire extinguishers (new and removed from service) need to have the annual maintenance done.

Sanitation & Lighting

  • Adequate, clean toilets and hand washing areas in restrooms provided?

  • Is lighting adequate in all areas where people can travel?

First Aid & Emergency Response

  • First aid kit supplies are accessible, current and adequate for the number of people?

  • Are eye wash bottles current and clean?

  • Is address and emergency contacts posted

  • Are AMR Red and Yellow forms posted?

  • Are AED and Trauma Pack mounted and visible?

Chemical Storage

  • Confirm the gas and diesel storage cans are empty and stored in can storage area ( metal safety cans, only. Remove any plastic containers)

  • Confirm that all propane cylinders are stored in vented, labeled propane storage box

  • Confirm that flammable chemicals are stored in flam cabinet and label with "no smoking" signs and have a 20 lbs fire extinguisher nearby.

  • Remove and properly dispose of any unused chemicals from chemical cabinet.

  • Are Safety Data Sheets for chemicals available in warehouse (or on Sharefile)?

  • Have employees been trained in Hazard communication and the use of the SDS binder? Do employees know where to find the SDS binder?

  • Are employees wearing proper PPE when handling chemicals? Chemical resistant gloves, safety glasses etc.

Housekeeping, Hazards, Falls, or Energies

  • Are all floor surfaces clean and clear of slip or trip hazards?

  • Are there any overhead hazards (such as loose stacked items, heavy lift items)? These should be stored safely at ground level.

  • If work is occurring on systems with potential energy or alarms, is system LOTO, de-terminated, or in test?

Tools & Equipment

  • Inspect ladders. Remove or dispose of ladder if worn, faded, or broken. Confirm ladders are stored upright and secured from falling.

  • Inspect cords for assured grounding. Remove and disposed of damaged or ungrounded cords. Use color coded tape and cord tester to perform inspection.

  • Confirm the electrical panels are free of obstructions 3 ft around.

  • Confirm that fall protection equipment is properly stored and has been inspected for the year.

  • Mezzanine and Upstairs Level<br><br>Make sure obstructions are clear from paths, furniture is neatly stored and walkways are clear and free of debris.

  • Are hard hats worn at all times in the mezzanine area?

  • Be sure and inspect and mark the in-use fall protection on the mezzanine.

  • Inspect guard rails and handrails at the loading dock on the mezzanine.

  • Perform thorough forklift inspection using inspection form. Log and post inspection. Be sure to report any part of the inspection that fails.

Kitchen and Climate Controls

  • Is kitchen cleaned, tidy and sink usable?

  • Is lighting adequate for the space?

  • Is thermostat set properly for comfort of occupants?

Yard Security

  • Is perimeter fencing secure and free of damage, holes and breakage? Do locks work properly?

  • Is the yard neat and tidy, has it been swept with a magnet to remove debris? Can vehicles (both employee and garbage and other services) freely move within the yard as needed?

  • Is garbage/ recycling/ metal scrap picked up and are bins removed and replaced regularly?

  • Is adequate signage posted outside the building for access, egress, and address location?

  • Are security lights mounted and in working order?
