Advanced Warnings, Signage, Devices and Clearance to Traffic

  • Are flags installed in all advanced warning signs/ speed reduction signs?

  • Have all conflicting/ distracting signs been covered or removed?

  • Have roadworks speed limits been determined correctly?

  • Are signs setup at the correct distances?

  • Are signs suitably placed for vehicular traffic entering the work zone?

  • Side streets signed?

  • If stop/ slow bat is in use to control traffic are the controllers doing so with a max speed of 60kph?

  • Is there a detour in use? If YES is it set up correctly?

  • Have End Roadworks or return to speed signs been installed in accordance to Australian standards?

  • Are multi message frames being used correctly? Including no empty spaces, blank yellows not whites, etc

  • Are the signs mounted and placed securely for the location

  • Are the signs in pairs (double gated) where required?

  • Taper set adequately (line and length)?

  • Are the lane status signs set up correctly?

  • Is an arrow board being used where required and in the correct fashion?

  • Is pedestrian signage being use? Pedestrian care being provided

  • Is pedestrian tape being used to restrict pedestrians entering the work area?

PPE and Equipment

  • Is there a current copy of the SWMS in the vehicle?

Site awareness and Client Interaction.

  • Are traffic controllers in a good position with an escape route from potential dangers?

  • Are the traffic controllers communicating?

  • Has the vehicle been placed in a suitable position for the works?

  • Have the traffic controllers signed onto the clients JSEA?

  • Has the client (or representative) signed onto the traffic control JSEA?

  • Has there been effective communication between the traffic controllers and the client including the reporting of hazards?

  • Have there been any environmental issues raised by the traffic controllers? If YES please note.
