GSTT Community Site - Environment Manager's Fire Safety Checklist

Are all ‘Fire Door Keep Locked’ doors, locked as necessary?

Are all 'Fire Door Keep Closed' doors closed and free from obstructions?

Are all final exit fire doors unlocked and kept clear of obstructions - internally & externally?

Do all fire doors with a self closing mechanism fully self-close on test?

Do any fire doors and/or door frames have damaged and/or missing smoke seals?

Are fire door hold back type devices in fully working order?

Is the Fire Alarm system showing a single green light, without amber fault/disablement lights?

Are all ceiling fire detectors in place and not covered over?

Has the weekly fire alarm test taken place since the last audit?

Are Portable Fire Extinguishers in place throughout the areas with their relevant signage?

Do any of the Portable Fire Extinguishers show signs of leakage/low pressure?

Are all Portable Fire Extinguishers within their annual service inspection test date?

Is all existing emergency escape route signage suitably positioned and readable?

Is all 'Keep Clear Fire Exit' signage in place externally of the final exit doors?

Is all final fire exit door signage in place?

Are all Fire Action Notices fully completed including the Assembly Point where applicable?

Are all emergency escape routes kept clear of obstructions?

Are all emergency escape route stairwells sterile - i.e. kept clear of items?

Are all external paths clear and free from debris and/or damaged paving?

Is there evidence that PAT may be required?

Has the weekly emergency lighting test taken place since the last audit?

Are any emergency lights showing a red light fault?

Are any open element fan heaters on the premises?

Is all external lighting in grounds and gardens operational?

Are any toasters being used in a non designated kitchen? As opposed to a kitchenette, a purpose use kitchen has suitable (heat) fire detection and a self-closing fire door. Check with Fire Safety Team if in doubt.

Is there evidence of excessive clutter on site?

Is there evidence of excessive waste on site?

Is there evidence of unsuitable storage of consumables?

Are boiler/comms/electrical cupboards and rooms kept free from clutter/waste/consumables?

Is the Fire Warden list for the site up to date and sufficient?

Is a suitable communication method in place for the Fire Wardens for sites where different evacuation strategies take place? Lambeth CCC & Pulross ICC
