  • Is the general condition of the space well maintained? (painted, corrosion free, etc.)

  • Is the area free of “slipping, tripping and falling” hazards?

  • Is grating in good condition and properly secured?

  • Are stair steps in good condition and not slippery? Non slip nose well secured?

  • Are Handrails in good condition?

  • Are ladders in good condition (rungs / cage / landing platforms)

  • Are chemical containers correctly labelled?

  • Is there any evidence of people using plastic bottles to store chemicals?

  • Is fire fighting and lifesaving equipment available and accessible?

  • Does fire-fighting and lifesaving equipment appear to be well maintained?

  • Are escape routes clearly marked and unobstructed?

  • Are all light fixtures functioning and properly guarded?

  • Are light fixtures, where appropriate, secured by safety cables?

  • Are electrical junction boxes closed and sealed?

  • Is electrical wiring in good condition, properly routed and terminated correctly?

  • Are all machinery guards in place?

  • Are machinery safety devices present and free of access?

  • Are Lifting gear and appliances properly color coded? Current color code

  • Are the lifting gear and appliances in good condition and marked with SWL

  • Is the area free of potential drop objects?

  • Is the area free of sharp edges liable to cause laceration or cut?

  • Are any caught between / pinch point clearly identified?

  • Is the area free of hazardous temperature extremes?

  • Is the area free of uncontrolled hazardous substances?

  • Is the appropriate PPE readily available?

  • Are relevant MSDS available?

  • Are there routine operations in this space that require fall protection?

  • Are proper fall protection anchor points provided?

  • Are any fixed fall protection systems installed in good condition?

  • Are eyewash stations and First aid box, well maintained and free of access?

  • Are appropriate warning signs posted, legible and of an approved pictogram type?

  • If Pressure Vessels present, is relief valve fitted and within certification?

  • Any other unsafe condition?

  • Is the housekeeping satisfactory?

  • Is the Waste Segregation Plan being followed properly?

  • Are there adequate waste bins available in area or vicinity?

  • Are all Waste Bins and skips marked properly?

  • Is all packaging of any items stored in the space fit for purpose
