Hazardous Waste Weekly Inspection

In-Plant Waste

  • Are all chemicals in-use in the plant labeled correctly?

  • Which ones and what area are not labeled correctly?

  • Are all chemicals in the plant on proper secondary containment?

  • Which chemicals and in what area need secondary containment?

  • Are all primary storage units in good shape? (Look for rust, corrosion, etc.)

  • Identify the chemicals and the area of storage in bad shape or in need of attention.

  • Are all hazardous waste empties removed from the in-use area and placed in hazardous waste accumulation area?

  • Which ones from what area need to be removed?

Hazardous Waste Accumulation Area

  • Are containers marked "HAZARDOUS WASTE"

  • Containers contents affixed to each container and visible for inspection

  • Are labels visible and legible

  • Are all container dated as to when they were placed into storage?

  • Date on the oldest container

  • Are wastes stored in compatible containers and container approved for hazardous waste

  • Are containers in good condition (check for leakage, spillage, rust, damage, bulges)
