Hazard Identification Process
-
To ensure all hazards are identified it is important to:
• talk to the workers as they know their job and its hazards best
• consider all aspects of the tasks and include non-routine activities
• look at how tasks are done, how the work is organised
• inspect the equipment, materials, products, etc. that are used - could they be misused or adversely changed
• review injury and incident records, manuals, SDS, training documents - collect evidential data
• consider potential unusual conditions – how would an emergency affect control measures
• examine risks in how they affect different groups of people like inexperienced workers, people with different level of abilities, contractors, visitors, or the public -
Once all hazards have been captured continue to page 4 and align suitable control measures with the proposed corrective actions identified during the site inspection.
