Daily / Weekly Routine Tasks Required at Routine Visual Inspection

  • WEATHER - Prevailing weather conditions checked prior to conducting inspections.

  • LITTER - Collect and dispose of litter in playground, immediate surroundings and common areas.

  • GRAFFITI - Capture image of tag/graffiti, report to supervisor, remove with approved graffiti remover.

  • PATHWAYS - Use leaf blower to clear pathways of debris and trip hazards.

  • SOFTFALL - Use leaf blower to clear leaves from softfall, remove sticks, stones, litter and contaminants. Check for any Sharps/Needles. Remove by trained staff. (Sharps Kit to remove)

  • SOFTFALL - Softfall is raked to fill worn areas, level, and loosen material to prevent compaction. Rake material that gathers under platforms and other structures and spread to main areas of impact - swings, fire pole, slide exits etc.

  • PEST - Visual check for pests, insects, spiders etc. Achieve this via visual inspection and regular leaf blowing around equipment or high-pressure cleaning. Report spider sacks to Supervisor.

General Site Inspection

  • Is the site clear of litter and dangerous objects ? Glass, rubbish, sharps, needles ?

  • Are there any trip hazards ?

  • Are there any sharp projections ?

  • Are the facilities safe and secure ?

  • Are footings sound and free of movement (push pull test) ?

  • Are all surfaces free of rust and graffiti ?

  • Are intended user positions attached securely ? (platforms, seats, foot/handholds etc)

  • Are moving parts in good working order ?

  • Are all fixings in place and securely attached ?

  • Are all joints and connections between components secure ?

  • Are chains and ropes in place and secure ?

  • Are all handrails and handgrips in place and secure ?

  • Are all caps/covers in place and secure ?

  • Are all other components in place with nothing missing ?

  • Is there evidence of vandalism or damage to facilities ?

  • Are springs working correctly ?

  • Are there any adverse environmental conditions effecting the facilities ? (salt, rain, wind, high UV)

Impact Absorbing Material / Surfacing and Containment

  • Is loose softfall material to the correct depth below minimums (checked with visual markers on equipment) ? Installed @300mm not below 200mm loose depth ?

  • Is loose softfall raked, weeded and clear of debris ?

  • Rubber surface and pads: Secure and surrounding loose softfall raked level

  • Containment is secure and sound ?

  • Is the main frame safe and are all bolts in place ?
