Steps to take when the person you are concerned about is at the workplace now

  • You are not expected, and should not try, to diagnose workers. However, you have a work health and safety duty to minimise the risk of workers and others in the workplace being exposed to COVID-19 so far as reasonably practicable.

Isolation

  • Isolate the person

  • Provide PPE to affected person (masks, sanitiser, tissues)

  • Provide PPE to persons assisting affected person

Seek advice and assess the risks

  • Talk to the person about your concerns

  • Collect person contact details

  • Record where the person has been in close contact with in workplace / how long

Transport

  • Does the person have personal mode transport to to home/location for isolation/medical facility

  • Does the person have a surgical mask?

  • Advise person to avoid contact with others/drivers as much as possible

  • Advise person to practise good hygiene

  • Advise person to pay by card

Clean and disinfect

  • Close off affected areas & do not let others use/enter them

  • Clean & disinfect the affected areas

  • Clean & disinfect all areas & equipment used by affected person
