Hoyer/Total Body Lift

  • Selects proper size and type of sling.

  • Sling and lift inspected prior to use.

  • The height of the bed is adjusted to an appropriate level, if transferring from bed.

  • Raises person while visualizing sling is in proper position and only high enough to move the person easily and safely.

  • Demonstrates proper techniques for maneuvering lift (good body mechanics, clear path, avoid twisting).

  • Demonstrates proper techniques for lowering to bed or chair.

  • Demonstrates proper techniques for removing sling from bed or chair.
