Before starting work

  • Has everyone on site been been through the Fusion induction, including civils? (this will mean they have already presented CSCS, CPCS, Safety Critical Medicals etc.)

  • Are all staff, including civils, familiar with the RAMS and the LSWSI? (If not you must provide a briefing)

  • If you have presented a toolbox talk or morning briefing, please note the topics raised:

  • Are all staff, including civils, wearing the correct PPE for the weather conditions and the tasks that they will be undertaking today?

Welfare

  • What is the nature of the welfare provided?

  • Is the welfare adequate for the number of people on site?

  • Is the welfare facility clean, tidy and free of clutter?

  • Is the welfare facility adequately stocked with consumables? (paper towels, toilet roll etc.)

  • Is the first aid box easily accessible, fully stocked and in date? and is there a qualified first aider on site?

  • Is there a fire extinguisher located in each site vehicle and welfare facility?

  • Please report any issues, damage or occurrences that have come to your attention

Plant

  • Is there plant operating on site today?

  • Is there any sign of leakage since the plant was last in use?

  • Does each piece of plant have an on board spill kit, and is there a spill kit by the refuel point?

  • Does the RAMS need to be updated? (annotate the old RAMS in pen until an updated copy can be issued)

Ecology

  • Is there any sign of activity by protected species or otherwise in any of the work areas? (the occurrence of wildlife on site must be reported immediately, do not disturb)

  • Do you require the advice/attendance of an ecologist?

Access & Egress

  • Is appropriate Traffic Control in place when crossing or using public rights of way and the public highway? (this must conform to your Schedule 4 notice)

  • Is the Construction Logistics Plan (CLP) accurate and up to date? (this should be included as an appendix to the RAMS)

  • Have all public rights of way been fenced off where needed, and appropriate signs erected?

  • Are designated pedestrian and vehicle routes clearly separated and guarded at pinch points and within enclosed areas? (i.e. parking areas, storage areas, refueling points etc.)

  • Are walkways, bridges, ladders and ramps in safe, secured positions?

  • Have all slip/trip hazards been minimized wherever possible?

  • Are there safe means of egress regularly spaced across the work areas?

  • Are all personnel familiar with emergency, rescue and evacuation procedures?

Archaeological quality control (at least once/week)

  • Does the work on site conform to the Project Plan & LSWSI?
