    Waste Handling

    Responsibilities
    HSE
    Track and maintain records & documentation of waste quantities & types
    Ensure all new employees receive "Waste Segregation" training during NEO
    Maintain this procedure and audit its effectiveness at least annually
    Conduct refresher training on an annual basis or when this procedure or waste handling instructions change or when weekly waste inspections dictate
    Complete and submit a biennial hazardous waste report
    Maintain copies of all waste manifest and monitor the 35 / 45 day time limits outlined in section 5.7.4.1 of this procedure
    Conduct weekly waste inspection and notify department managers of noted deficiencies on the inspection

    Ensure all employees follow this procedure
    When procedures or the associated instructions are not followed the supervisor / manager may need to conduct additional training. Some circumstances may require corrective actions including but not limited to verbal, written warning or termination.

    All employees
    Ensure that all waste is disposed of in the appropriate container. Follow the waste segregation guidelines.
    All employees are responsible for correct labeling, locations, segregation, handling, disposal, removal, storage, & allowable quantities, based on the information contained in reference to the waste handling instructions, employee specific job duties and HMMP
    Conduct weekly waste inspections and notify department managers of deficiencies.

    Satellite accumulation points can accumulate up to 55 gallons of hazardous waste (o 1 quart of acute hazardous waste) for an unlimited amount of time.

    The containers must be kept in good condition, no leaks, dents, rust, and must be clean.

    The waste must be compatible with the container

    Containers must be kept closed when not adding or removing waste

    Containers must be labeled "Hazardous Waste" and with wording identifying the contents of e container

    This area must be under the control of the operator of the process generating the waste. Control may include visual observation by operator or a locking device

    SAP's cannot be used as a temporary staging area for waste collection from other areas

    When 55 gallons of hazardous waste is accumulated, the container must be immediately marked with the date (immediately meaning within minutes). And immediately moved to the 90-day storage (immediately meaning within 24 hrs.).
