Tank Storage Inspection

  • Are all tanks free of corrosion?<br>

  • Are piers painted red and free of protrusions?

  • Are all storage tanks painted?

  • Is liquid pipe painted red, labeled and supported?

  • Is vapor pipe painted yellow, labeled and supported?

  • Are bulk heads protected with crash posts?

  • Is a 20# fire extinguisher charged, covered and fixed to the bulk head?<br>

  • Are all valves at least 18" above ground?

  • Do all bulkhead valves operate properly?

  • Is a sight flow used with back check at all transport unloading points?

  • Are ESV's in sound working condition?

  • Do remote cables properly activate the ESV?

  • Are "EMERGENCY SHUTOFF" signs with minimum 2" letters legible and next to activation device?

  • Are working locks on all gates and doors?

  • Is all fencing serviceable, connected to posts and crossbeams and upright?<br>

  • Is there enough room to store vehicles and tanks within the fenced area?<br>

  • Is all gate and door hardware in place?

  • Swing gates and doors properly hung in upright position?

  • Slider gates and doors are properly tracking in upright position?

  • Is all brush & weeds cleared from the fence?

  • Are warning signs and emergency telephone #'s posted at proper places?<br>

UNDERGROUND/SLAB STORAGE TANKS

  • Are any storage tanks underground?

  • What size tanks are underground?

  • Are all F/O tanks on a concrete slab?

  • Are any above ground F/O tanks in dirt?

  • Are all tank bases painted and rust free?

  • Do all slab/underground tanks have cathodic protection?<br>

  • Are test stations present to read electric current?

  • What are the milli-volt readings?

SHOP AREA AND STORAGE BUILDINGS

  • Is the shop and any storage building clean and maintained?

  • Are reg's separated by their function and stored in one area?

  • Is brass/copper/hose easily ID'd by size and stored neatly?

  • Would a customer in the shop or shed be impressed?

BULK TANKS

  • Are all tanks set on concrete blocks?

  • Are tanks arranged by size?

  • Are tank lids on and in the down position?

  • Are service valves plugged with POL plug?

  • Are all tanks repaired and ready to use?

  • Are all tanks evacuated to 0%?

  • Are relief valves protected?

  • Are bottom liquid valves removed and plugged?

  • Has weed killer been applied to ground?

  • Are all tanks painted and de-scaled?

  • Are "Property of Lakes Gas" stickers under the lids?

  • Are tanks w/ bad data plates removed from service?

UNDERGROUND STEEL PIPE

  • Is any section of pipe underground?

  • Is underground pipe coating visible?

  • How many feet are underground and what size is the pipe?

  • Is all underground pipe cathodic protected?

  • Are test stations present to read electric current?

  • What are the mili-volt readings?

  • Reading > - 850 MV needs cathodic protection

  • Example: Reading = -700 MV needs cathodic protection
    Example: Reading = -1050 MV cathodic protection is good
