MERCHANDISING TOOLS

  • GAMES DISPLAYS: The store must have a games display section, fully stocked. Store size dependent 2 to 3 drops with accessories displayed in the middle. Gaming layout must be as follows from top to bottom starting with high value games working your way down to low value games (start with PS4, PS3, PS2 / Xbox one, Xbox 2). Store to have 1 or 2 gaming header boards on display depending on size of gaming section. Gaming shelf strips must be used

  • Store must have a DVD display section. Store must utilise one upright or a Tripax stand. Relevant POP must be used in section

GENERAL MAINTENANCE AND HOUSEKEEPING

  • Office Floor must be clear of all stock and must be clean

  • Decibel Rating - Decibels should not exceed 65db, stores should be playing Cash Crusader Radio station. Use Sound meter App

  • Tiles- No Cracked or Chipped tiles, they must be replaced

  • Walls to be cleaned and repainted where necessary

  • Torn wallpaper is to be replaced or needs to be brought up to new spec (Dulux paint). Contact Projects for a full spec document

  • Ceiling panels must be aligned and all Prestik, pins and other fastening material for mobiles must be removed. Ceiling tiles need to be clean

  • All graphic boxes to be in good condition and clean. All graphic boxes to have vinyl branding

  • Wall carpets, base shelves and dump base carpeting to be clean with no stains on

  • Skirting and dado rails must be undamaged

  • All light bulbs / fluorescent tubes are to be in working order

  • Is the cash desk counter undamaged and in good condition. Are maple panels in good order, no notices stuck on counter. All drawers to be in good working order

  • Electric, Alarm, TV and Telephone cables must be hidden and fitted in trunking and securely fastened. No extension leads to run across retail and buyshop floors. Store to have correct powerpoles installed with no extension leads running from ceilings

  • Glass Doors ( Old Cabinets ) - No glass doors may be cracked or chipped. Glass doors must be made from safety glass and not less than 6mm in thickness. Aluminium corner protectors must be installed. Wall based Cabinets must have crocodile locks. Roller to move freely

  • Sink/Cleaning Area - This area must be kept tidy

EXTERIOR

  • Pavement must be clear of litter. Stock merchandised outside should be appropriate and can be categorised and related to exercise and gym equipment, bicycles and outdoor goods such as lawnmowers. Stock levels must be limited to avoid congestion and restricting free access / entrance to the store. All merchandise outside of store to be clean and tidy

  • No windows may be cracked and must be cleaned of all finger marks etc. Cracked windows to be fixed within 7 days. Windows must not be cluttered with posters and signs, these must be placed in the bottom left corner and not obstructing the display

  • External Signage: Must be in good order and clean. If faded or damaged the affected sign must be replaced.

NEW AND 2ND HAND STOCK DIFFERENTIATION

  • Brand Awareness : No mixing of New and 2nd Hand Home Appliances allowed unless products assist in selling each other. e.g. 2nd Hand cellphone with New earphones

  • Cabinets: Only one cabinet may be used for either new or 2nd hand goods, mixing will only be allowed of new and 2nd hand within a single cabinet if the product is an accessories e.g. Gaming, Simcards, etc

  • Each gondola side would have to carry only new or 2nd hand, no mixing allowed on a gondola side

  • Each gondola end would have to be representative of the gondola sides with regards to new and 2nd hand

FRONT WINDOW DISPLAY

  • General Appeal - This relates to the first impression of the section which includes general appeal, layout of section, general merchandising and cleanliness

  • Window Display must have an electrical supply and must be well lit

  • Display must be interactive (moving picture, parts or flashing lights assist greatly in attracting attention). Flashing lights to be inwardfacing or above eyelevel. Are products switched on and paired correctly. i.e. Amp, TV and Speakers DJ lights and DJ Equipment

  • Packaging should be in pristine condition when used

  • No dirty, missing, incorrect, faded or torn shelf strips

  • Kick plates and base shelves must be clean with no scruff and marks on carpet

GONDOLA ENDS

  • General appeal - This relates to the first impression of the section which includes general appeal, layout of section, general merchandising and cleanliness. This may be used for SALE products outside a promotion

  • Is there power on at least one end per Gondola

  • Appearance of product in terms of cleanliness and quality and have the value added products where applicable

  • Premium lines are to be at eyelevel, this refers to high value and high in demand products obtained from top 200 KVI lines and top 200 sellers

DUMP BASES and PLINTHS

  • General Appeal - This relates to the first impression of the section which includes general appeal, layout of section, general merchandising and cleanliness. Is the section well stocked, interactive with one division merchandised i.e. DJ or White Goods

  • Only new or 2nd hand products may be displayed on dump bases, but no mixing

  • Appearance of product in terms of cleanliness, quality and have value added products displayed

  • Are premium or promotional items displayed attractively based on top 400 sellers list or Division Management Report

  • Do products contain the relevant merchandising material such as flashes, description cards, A5 shelf talkers etc

  • Display must be interactive (moving picture, parts or flashing lights assist greatly in attracting attention). Are components connected ready for easy demo / or playing?

  • Dumpbase must be clean with no scruff and marks on carpet

SALE SECTION

  • This relates to the first impression of the section which includes general appeal, layout of section, general merchandising and cleanliness. Is the section fully stocked and well presented, are Discontinued and stock age split?

  • Section is to be replenished at least weekly with New Goods Discontinued Lines and Second Hand Stock Age items. All items should be marked down monthly

  • Were price points reduced and are the prices related to status of the product in the section? Was and Now pricing visible on each item?

  • All product on display must be in working order and connected where applicable

POWERWINGS

  • General appeal - This relates to the first impression of the section which includes general appeal, layout of section, general merchandising and cleanliness. Is the section fully stocked?

  • Should be merchandised as per the 10 P's as far as possible. Sort by Sort being key

  • Are premium or promotional items displayed attractively based on top sellers or the section?

  • IS SKU Pricing utilized and is spacing correctly used

  • The powerwing must not be kept up by cable ties. Correct clip to be used

  • Is there sufficient space/pegs in the section to display all product?

CASH DESK AREA

  • The general cleanliness of the Cash Desk Area, no stock may be stored behind the cash desk counter. No chairs allowed behind cash desk

  • A full range of corporate packets to be on hand at the cash desk. Stores must be charging for bags

  • CD’s, DVD’s and Games must be filed in CD sleeves and numbered. Check 10 CD’s to confirm CD filing is accurate

  • Are products for sale on cash desk - smalls and not in the way of customers

  • Is the "Caring for your PA Equipment" catalogue available at the cashdesk, is the cashier attaching it to the slip for each DJ/ PA sale

Customer ID documents

  • Are cashiers taking a copy of the customer's ID when purchasing second hand goods higher than R100? Do cashiers understand the legal requirement for this? Is the sign prominently displayed and in good condition?

  • Does the cash desk have a file for ID copies - is this file neat and well managed?

  • Do the cashier/ sales staff complete the selling process by ensuring that the warranty is explained and that the till slip is signed by both customer and sales person to ensure compliance. Both on the front and the back of receipt

Jewelry, watch displays units

  • Is the general appearance and cleanliness of the section acceptable. Is the section interesting with a good range of gold jewellery and watches on display?. The glass may not be scratched or cracked, lights must be in good working order

  • 2nd hand Watch Stands - do all 2nd hand watches have stands ?

  • Are Aviator, Kimio and Panmila stands available?

  • Does all jewelry. new watch displays and knife stands have price digits ?

  • Are rinds displayed in-ring trays

  • Are Necklaces displayed on necklace display stands?

  • Are bangles and bracelets displayed on the bangle and bracelet display stand

  • Valuation Certificates

  • Jewellery items over R5000 that are displayed on the retail floor must be accompanied by a valuation certificate

  • Cleaning

  • All jewellery pieces must be cleaned before being merchandised on the retail area

CABINETS

  • There needs to be a clear differentiation between merchandising of new and second hand stock, unless there is a addon strategy and potential for additional sales. Example is new earphones with a 2nd hand phone

  • Are cabinets reserved for high value items such as laptops, cell phones, Play Station consoles etc

  • Are SKU Labels and inserts used for Price Identification, A7 must be used for phones and laptops

  • All products to be clearly visible and nothing to be hidden behind any other item or line

  • Housekeeping

  • Has all stock been cleaned?

  • Peg board - To be uniform and structured. There should be sufficient stock to fill the section. All hanging stock must be put onto peg boards

GAMING SECTION

  • Is there a dedicated "gaming champion" allocated for the day ?

  • Is the section sufficiently stocked and does it offer customers a variety of products? No games may be sold without covers

  • Controllers and add on items gaming keyboards, mouse and headphones must be part of this display. These products must be well stocked and only sold from back up stock. There must be a TV with gaming trailers playing at all times

  • Has a specific product or range been identified to attract customers attention or create awareness on what is new . Are there sufficient Quantities of Top sellers

  • All shelves must have undamaged shelf strips and inserts. No dirty, Incorrect, Faded and Torn Shelfstrips Is there a Games Header Board

  • Barcodes are to be positioned on the back of the case in the bottom left hand corner and not over the FPB logo. Cases should be in good condition as far as possible

TV, HI AND HOME THEATRE SECTION

  • Panels (TVs without tuners) may NOT be displayed in this section, only the Computer section

  • Check that the TV's are captured as TV's and not as monitors to bypass TV licenses

  • All speaker sets must be connected to amplifiers and a DVD player. A combo price should be advertised for these units

  • Is the latest Home Theatre Catalogue available?

  • Has all stock been cleaned?

  • Is the section clean, and all POP in good condition, 24 month warranty SKU insert for TV's, 12 month warranty for home entertainment

DJ/PA SECTION

  • There needs to be a clear differentiation between merchandising of new and second hand stock

  • Has a specific product or range been identified to attract customers attention or create awareness on what is new . Are there sufficient Quantities of Top sellers

  • A minimum of 4 DJ/ PA sets must be connected to speakers and amplifiers and either a DVD player or CD mixer playing suitable music. The 4 sets must be made up of one entry level, two mid range and one highend set. A combo price and/ or free gift must be advertised for these units

  • No speakers may be on display without a matching amplifier No amplifier may be on display without a set of matching speakers

  • The salesperson responsible for the section must be 100% complete with the LMS module "Product Knowledge: PA Systems"

  • Every PA system on display must have combo POP that includes the output wattage and model numbers of amp and speakers

  • Is the latest PA/ DJ Catalogue available? (20210629 Amp and Speaker Pairing). Is it in good condition

STOREROOM AREA

BUY SHOP

  • The general cleanliness of the Buy Shop Counter, no stock may be stored in the Buyshop

  • Are the SSB flyers neatly present in the buyshop? Are these being attached to every new SSB contract and extension? Are buyers using a marker to highlight the indicative extension on the contract?

  • Must be working and must make legible copies. Is a spare toner cartridge available?

  • Are the Buyers certificate displayed in the buy shop

  • There must be buy shop pamphlets on the counter in the holder

  • Buy shop area is to be kept clear of stock. Older Buy shops have 5 or 6 Chairs, New Buys shops have benches

TESTING EQUIPMENT

  • Store must have 9ct, 18ct, 24ct acids and scratch stone and loupe

  • Jewellery scale to be tested by weighing an article. Calibrate scale by weighing a R2 coin = 5.4 grams

  • Stores must have at least a 32cm colour TV for display and testing purposes in the buy shop

  • 12V Power Supply

  • Must have at least a Vodacom, Cell C and MTN Sim card. Must have standard, Nano and micro

  • Store must have a testing station to test car audio

  • Stores must at least have a meter of flex, 22 RCA, 33 RCA, M–M & MF , HDMI cables. Stores must also have Fig. 8 leads & kettle leads. Type C and phone data cables

  • Store must have at least a set of screwdrivers, pliers and wire strippers

  • Must have a variety of major retailers’ websites saved under favourites for quick access. Does the browsing history indicate that homework is carried out on most buys

  • Are testing sheets consistently in use for each product being purchased. These must be attached to the buy sheet
