Sweeper and Scrubber Operation Checklist

  • 1. Should we always check the equipment before using it and make sure the machine is operating properly? (ie., brakes, horn, safety devices, etc.)

  • Check Equipment by walking around it for body damage

  • Check motor oil level and hydraulic oil level

  • Rotate the main sweeper brush and fill out equipment card

End of Each Shift:

Sweeper

  • Dump the trash out of the hopper

  • Remove sticks, strings, and plastic from main sweeper brush

Scrubber

  • Empty the water tank

  • Empty and wash out tray

  • Wash inside of the tank out

  • 2. Should the sweeper or scrubber be equipped with a seatbelt and should the operator wear it when operating the machine?

  • 3. Should I drive the sweeper/scrubber up to a person standing in front of a fixed object?

  • 4. Should I operate and drive the sweeper through standing water?

  • 5. Should the operator sound the horn when entering and exiting aisles, at cross aisles, and at blind intersections?

  • 6. The operator must operate at a safe speed when operating the sweeper/scrubber on wet surfaces or inclines.

  • 7. Should the operator dump the hopper from the dock into a dumpster outside the building instead of dumping the hopper into the trash buggy?

  • 8. When you are finished using the sweeper/scrubber, whose responsibility to properly clean the machine for the next person and return it to the trash dock area?

  • 9. ALWAYS use care when changing a tank on the sweeper/scrubber. Run the machine until the tank is completely empty. It is mandatory that I use gloves and a face shield when changing out the tank to avoid frostbite-type injuries to the face and hands.
