As the user of the MWEP, do YOU?

  • Have a current certificate of competency (IPAF) for the type of MEWP to be used?

  • Know that all MEWP operators must be over the age of 18 years.

  • Know the ground condition and gradients, weather conditions and wind speeds on which this specific model can operate and travel with out exceeding the rating ?

  • Know that a full body fall arrest harness must be worn and attached to a designated anchorage point ?<br>No excuses. A harness must be worn at all times while operating the MWEP.

  • Have a banksman in suitable PPE for this task?

As the user of the MEWP, have YOU?

  • Checked that the MEWP has been maintained to the manufacturers requirements prior to use?

  • Checked that the MEWP is registered and that the registration is current prior to its use?

  • Checked that the operators manual is with the MEWP?

  • Conducted a risk assessment prior to the commencement of work to ensure that the MEWP is appropriate for the work intended?

  • Prepared a Safe Work Method Statement prior to the commencement of the task, which covers all aspects of the activity?

  • Ensure and checked the ground where you are to work for holes, pits, soft spots, uneven or sloping ground? You should not work adjacent to excavations, or over covered pits, manholes etc unless adequately covered and protected and then specifically agreed with the client.

  • Ensure you have checked that barriers and signage are in place to exclude persons from your work area, and areas immediately adjacent?

  • Ensure you have checked that tool lanyards are fitted to secure all tools and equipment to an anchorage point.
