  • If in doubt about cargo handling, Check with hatch boss and/or lead man before operating the cargo

  • After break out from Stow - Park the vehicles only in Temporary stow areas as designated by HATCH BOSS , Ensure parking brakes ON , GEAR NEUTRAL/PARK and ENGINE OFF

  • After Stowing on board - Engage GEAR (1st / Park) , parking brakes ON, windows closed, AIR CON Off, Engine OFF, keys checked, seat covers and door mats adjusted

  • Prior boarding the cargo - Check PORT MARK and DO Proper ROUND CHECK

  • Always open the door only using handle. Look out for vehicles from behind & always hold the door till the time door is fully closed. Never step on side panel when entering or leaving the car . Ensure Driver seat is fully pulled back

  • Before Starting the vehicle - Ensure parking brakes & foot brake are "ON", ENGAGE GEAR to NEUTRAL/PARK , If in doubt - DO NOT START THE UNIT , ask for assistance

  • DO NOT MOVE CARGO FROM STOW WITHOUT GUIDANCE. <br>Moving from Yard/vessel - Wait for unit ahead to move and clear & then wait for Signal man to the guide driver to move forward - Until then DONOT Engage GEAR / Release hand and foot brake for moving

  • Speed Limit - In vessel - Flat surface ( 20 km/hr) , Turnings, tight spaces and end of Ramp ways ( Slow down to less than 10 km/hr)

  • In the yard - Follow speed limit as per terminal regulations . However maintain less than 10 km/hr in turning areas & when passing close to the vehicles stowed in the yard. Strictly follow designated traffic route in the yard & onboard.

  • While driving on board keep atleast 10 mtrs distance between vehicles and whenever stopping enroute - KEEP atleast 5m distance from vehicle ahead AVOID STOPPING vehicle on or near SLOPEWAY

  • While driving on rampways and in YARD maintain atleast 20 mtrs distance between the vehicles

  • At Yard / Onboard - Follow Signalman to GUIDE driver to temporary stow onboard / final stow position in yard. <br>STOWING OPERATION - Foot brake "ON", Gear to N or P , Hand brake ON , Confirm all WINDOWS closed, Aircon "OFF" & Lights OFF, Switch OFF Ignition - Release FOOT BRAKE only after IGNITION is OFF

  • Route from the yard clearly marked with cones, caution signs, posters etc. Arrange Traffic warden at the junctions to regulate traffic movement in the yard - Re assess as required

  • Deck heights inside the vessel checked and all obstructions noted and discuss with ship's staff regarding any decks with different height on same deck, all obstructions clearly marked with cones etc., 2 Signal man at all times for H & H . Driver to follow lead man signal at all times in the yard and on board vessel

  • Check the under carriage & overhead clearance , tides at the time of operation . Use additional steel plates to reduce the angle, advise Ship staff to reduce angle by ballasting if required. If removal of any protrusion is required from the unit for safe loading or discharging CHECK WITH MOL PORT CAPTAIN FOR YOUR REGION

  • Statics placed on trailers / MAFIS lashed as per MOL standards and sufficient dunnage placed for safe handling by forklift Forklift arms covered with protectors & vertical resting area protected with cushioning / rubber mats used to prevent scratch damages to statics handled. Provide signal man to assist Forklift / Tug master driver when handling packages onboard / yard.

  • FORKLIFT / TUGMASTER driver follow all Safety measures and understand cargo dimensions prior handling Correct gear and equipment identified for handling Static , High and heavy cargoes

  • Always USE Triple hawsers ( Non-Skid Bar) and Single hawser for Bima Grip Ramp type on the stern ramps for loading and discharging of TRACKED units, NEVER Wrap TRACKED units with mooring ropes . Follow MOL guidelines when handling NEW/USED H/H units in port

  • On board excavator with arm/bucket stowed with enough padding and as per MOL excavator guidelines on board . <br>At Yard excavator with arm/bucket placed as per recommended procedure - 90 degrees vertical to the yard surface . Links and teeth protected from wharf area by dunnage & rags . At Yard , Wheel loader , Dozer , Motor graders with blade / bucket shall be rested on dunnage / rubber mats protected by rags

  • After Loading / Discharging H / H cargo where applicable - switch OFF Master Switch and/or isolate negative terminal of battery

  • Towing operations under continuous supervision and monitoring with adequate SAFETY MEASURES

  • TYPE OF H & H HANDLED

Provide signal man to assist Forklift / Tug master driver when handling packages onboard / yard.

  • 1)Before discharging - To prevent short landing / Overlanding - Location of all units and statics onboard to be discharged are physically checked and identified. 2) After discharging - Tally check done in yard for both units and static packages discharged from a particular vessel. Result is cross checked with tally done on board.

  • After Loading of cargoes - Vin Tally sheet marked for all units loaded on board are prepared & updated stowage plan given to the Ship staff

  • Confirm all cargo loaded as per cargo manifest and seperation done on board as per POD

  • DO not place any STICKERs on DECAL of H/H cargoes and static packages
