Walkthrough of New Lifts

  • Have you ever operated this electric lift?

  • Walk operator through the differences in electric versus propane lifts. Don't forget to go step by step of turning it on to operation to turning it off.

  • Have you operated a lift with finger controls?

  • Have the operator tell you about their experience on the lift with finger controls if they say they have operated on before.

  • If not already done, have operator get on the lift. Have the operator walk you through the safety features of the lift they are aware of. If they miss any points, review the additional items with them.

  • Have the operator safely move the lift to the desired location for stacking practice. Walk beside them during them move. Do NOT walk in front of the lift while they are moving to location.

  • Have the operator practice using the finger controls on the lift to rearrange ALL the different type bins in your practice area. This should be done with all bins and the next step cannot be started until both you and the operator are comfortable with the movements being done using the finger controls.

  • As the operator I am comfortable with the finger controls and feel I have practiced enough to move further into everyday use of this type lift.

  • As auditor of this lift operator I am comfortable with the practice I have witnessed of the operator using the finger controls on the lift.

  • If you or the operator are not comfortable moving forward, then further guidance and practice needs to be done using the finger controls for stacking.

  • Does operator demonstrate the ability to feather the controls?

  • Does operator demonstrate understanding of the general movements of the lift?

  • Once satisfied with movements have operator return to charging area with you

  • Do you know how to safely charge and disconnect charger from lift? Have operator verbally walk you through the steps prior to letting the operator show you.

  • Both operator and auditor are satisfied the operator can safely operate the charger when charging and disconnecting the charger.

  • Before being fully operational on the new lift what else do you feel needs to be reviewed to help you be successful?

  • If all questions and topics have been satisfied you should move forward to allowing the operator to operate the lift on trial basis.

  • I feel that I have the proper training and tools in order to operate the battery operated forklift with finger controls safely and efficiently. By signing I do not feel like training would be an issue of why I would have an incident on this lift.

  • I feel the operator is ready to move to the next steps of operation on the battery operated finger controlled lift.

  • Once both signatures have been received the operator should be placed into the 5 day forklift program to ensure audits are conducted daily on the safe operation of the lift by this operator.
