Objective

  • To ensure that all engineers have the correct tools, equipment and PPE to perform their job safely

  • To ensure that all engineers can perform all mandatory electrical safety tests and understand the sequence of tests as well as the reasons for the safety procedures. This is achieved by monitoring, coaching and training. Photos of the engineer performing the tests are required

Vehicle Inspection

  • Is the works vehicle parked safely?

  • Photograph all four sides of the vehicle, highlighting any visible damage

  • Photograph the inside of the vehicle

  • Is the rear of the vehicle free of excess toteboxes?

  • Are the tyres road legal?

Safety and The Perfect Service Visit

  • Have you completed the Dynamic Risk Assessment?

  • Have hazards identified in the Dynamic Risk Assessment been controlled by you?

  • Have you noticed any hazard trends whilst completing the Dynamic Risk Assessment?

  • Do Operatives carry valid ID Cards [I.E Company ID, Gas Safe, OFTEC, NICEIC]

  • Before entering the property did the operative ask the customer to move any children from your work area and safely secure all animals?

  • Upon entering the property did the operative put on over overshoes to protect the customers property?

  • Evidence Site Safety Set-Up: Has the Operative set up the work area in an orderly fashion, keeping access/ egress routes free from obstruction utilising the Health and Safety A-Frame provided?

  • Has the customer been suitably advised on the repair process and potential hazards associated, including the safe zone, work zone locations and able to carry out a dynamic risk assessment?

  • Does the operatives have access and use the correct floor protection?

  • Does the Operative have access to current RAMS? (via the LearnUpon)

  • Earth Loop Impedance Meter / Capture photo of serial number & calibration date

Electrical - Safe Isolation Process (Please photograph the engineer performing each test)

  • Can the Operative make correct use of the non-contact Volt Detector (Volt Stick x2 available)? Photos of the engineer carrying out the test required.

  • Can the Operative perform an Earth Loop Impedance Test (ELI)? Photos of the engineer carrying out the test required.

PPE & Work Equipment

  • Does the Operative have the correct PPE/Work Equipment in order to undertake the work safely?

  • Does the Operative have a fully stocked, in date First Aid Kit including eyewash?

  • Are all hand tools / field equipment free from damage?<br>(if at risk, remove from use immediately and replace)

  • Does the Operative have X1 1KG Powder Fire Extinguisher Available? [Fully Pressurised and Maintained]

  • Extinguisher Condition

  • Is safety footwear in good condition and of the correct type?

  • Photograph the sole/tread of the footwear

  • Is the operative aware of the correct PPE for the tasks they are trained to perform?

  • Access Equipment / Lifting Equipment in good condition and free from any defects? (Check feet, platforms **where applicable)

  • Does the Operative have correct paperwork [Warning Labels, Electrical and Gas]

Observations (Please detail your observations and any coaching provided to engineer)

  • How did you find the operatives approach to diagnosing the faulty?

  • How did the operative deal with the customer whilst in there home?

  • Did the operative explain to the customer the fault with the appliance and the work that has been carried out?

  • Did the operative understand MC3 and all its functions?

  • Did the operative carryout all electrical safety sets before and after the repair and understand the purpose of the tests?

  • Did the operative remove all parts and packaging from the customers home?
