Review Guidance
- The Retrofit Design has considered the guidance in Sections 4 & 5 of PAS2035 and will provide a 'fabric first' approach to retrofit. as far as is reasonably practicable.
-
Review assessment information
- The information that has been captured by the PAS Assessment and the Technical Assessments is sufficient to prepare the design
-
Retrofit Coordinator activities
- The Improvement Option Evaluation and Medium Term Plan for this project will be provided by the Retrofit Coordinator.
Overheating Statement
-
As part of my role as the Retrofit Coordinator I have identified that your property has [south, east or west] [windows, patio doors, bi-fold doors] and therefore as the home is being insulated temperatures in the summer may result your home to be warmer than normal.
-
Has the property oversized windows, Patio Doors, or Bifold Doors, If so what directing are they facing?
- For projects that don’t require a site visit (GBIS Cav & loft projects etc): As the Retrofit Coordinator I need to inform you that under normal circumstances a site visit is required during installation of the energy efficiency measures. However Trustmark have advised all Retrofit Coordinators that for measures that are less complex a site visit isn’t required . As a Retrofit Coordinator I still need to obtain evidence of the installation to ensure it has met the requirements of the standards that I work to and so I have appointed the Installer to collect that evidence for me.
- Where the Coordinator has instructed a different member of staff within their own company: To fulfil the requirements of the British Standards I work to a qualified person will be visiting site during or after the installation of the measures you have selected to ensure the measures are being installed to the correct standards. I have to inform you that I have instructed a colleague that works for the same company as myself to carry out the inspection and although that colleague is employed by the same company they will be inspecting your property in a non-biased way and in accordance with the relevant building regulations and British Standards
- Where the Coordinator has instructed another company to carry out the site visit: To fulfil the requirements of the British Standards I work to a qualified person will be visiting site during or after the installation of the measures you have selected to ensure the measures are being installed to the correct standards. I have to inform you that I have instructed a 3rd party company to carry out the inspection and although the 3rd party company will be paid by myself they will be inspecting your property in a non-biased way and in accordance with the relevant building regulations and British Standards.

[If existing shading is present]
It is recommended that during the UK’s warmer months that the existing shading (Curtains, Blinds, shutters, external sun canopies etc) is used to prevent your property becoming too warm during those months. -
If existing shading is not present Some of our recommendations to try and keep the property cooler during the summer months are as follows [include as appropriate]:
- Installation of low energy lightbulbs to prevent the heat from filament bulbs.
- Improving insulation on hot water tanks
- Opening windows where security can be maintained. During the day where the internal temperature rises above the external temperature and at night to purge heat.
- Room dividers between kitchens and living spaces that contain larger windows and/or glass doors.
- External canopy shading or shutters over the larger windows or glass doors.
- Secure ventilation systems to remove heat from the property at night during the warmer months.
- Exposing block or brick work to allow those areas to absorb the heat from the warm air and release it later in the day when it is cooler.
Retrofit Coordinator Site Visits
-
When a site Coordinator Site Visit is Required who will carry it out.
- For projects that don’t require a site visit (GBIS Cav & loft projects etc): As the Retrofit Coordinator I need to inform you that under normal circumstances a site visit is required during installation of the energy efficiency measures. Retrofit Design
-
Scope of the design
- The scope of the design has been agreed with the Retrofit Coordinator, ensuring alignment with PAS 2035:2030 requirements and best practices for energy efficiency improvements. The intended outcomes comply with the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme, supporting national objectives to: Reduce carbon emissions through improved energy efficiency measures. Maintain security of energy supply by optimizing energy performance. Alleviate fuel poverty by enhancing thermal comfort and reducing household energy costs. The design approach follows a whole-dwelling, fabric-first methodology, ensuring that all measures are installed in a way that is effective, durable, and free from unintended consequences. The scope includes a risk-managed sequencing of measures, ensuring proper ventilation, moisture control, and structural integrity, in line with PAS 2035 compliance standards. This retrofit design adheres to all regulatory and industry standards, including TrustMark requirements, to ensure high-quality delivery and long-term performance.
